Police Arrest 2 on Drug Charges After Serving Searching Warrant at Albany Blub

Katherine Cody and Alexander Wilson were both arrested during the warrant service on April 10.

Information provided by Albany Police—

On April 10, at approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the Albany Police Department served a narcotics search warrant at the campsite of Katherine Cody located in Waterfront Park in Albany, in an area referred to as the “Albany Bulb.”

Two persons were present at the camp when officers arrived: Katherine Cody and Alexander Wilson.  During the warrant service, police arrested Wilson for a violation of section 11377(a) Health and Safety Code (HS), possession of methamphetamine. Cody was also arrested and found to possess in excess of 12 grams of methamphetamine concealed in her clothing.

The search produced a digital scale, packaging materials, and paraphernalia for both smoking and injecting illegal drugs.

Cody was arrested for a violation of 11378 H&S, possession of methamphetamine for sale and 11364 H&S, possession of drug paraphernalia. A quantity of "tar" heroin was also discovered among Cody’s personal property and an additional charge of 11350 H&S, possession of heroin was added.

Both arrestees were transported to Alameda County Jail.  Several dogs at the camp were placed into the care/custody of Berkeley Animal Control officials. Not all of the dogs were owned by Cody, but two of the three owned by Cody have prior bite reports in Waterfront Park on file.

Investigation of controlled substance sales and use at the Albany Bulb has become a priority for the Albany Police Department due in part to the number of methamphetamine related arrests, incidents or other associated activity tied to persons camped on or frequenting the Bulb.

Using field work by patrol officers over the past several months, detectives were able to conduct an investigation into narcotic sales on the Bulb that led to Cody. Her arrest comes after multiple “controlled” purchases of methamphetamine from her, which allowed officers to present evidence to a Superior Court judge who in turn authorized a search warrant.

Cody’s arrest is a significant blow to the methamphetamine dealing and use that is regularly taking place on the Bulb.

"Your tax dollars [] working." I really hope, though, that KC isn't just left with no representation at all. On the other hand, I'm glad that a few months work was put into the investigation to prepare a credible case that supports what us citizens had already suspected generally about the Bulb. I'm curious to know what the "'controlled' purchases" involved.

I've heard that it's great fun to detox in jail. It couldn't happen to a nicer mooch.

>> I'm curious to know what the "'controlled' purchases" involved. <<< the great part of this is the implosion it will cause in the Bulb community./ When one person is busted, everyone else thinks everyone else was the snitch.. maybe someone is. Not likely the police will share their tactics, but it is interesting- you would think it would be tough for a cop to go out to a tight community like that and make buys without living there and knowing a bunch of Bulbies... Just in case they Bulbies are reading this, I'll stir the pot a little more and say yeah, sure looks like you all got a snitch out there... you know i dont do speed, wasnt me... People could try and blame me and other Patch users for calling attention to how integral meth is to the Bulb people, but - reality check- every time one of you goes on youtube or into a City Council meeting, you make it very plain to everyone you are tweeking..... The Bulbies brought this on themselves, and another common action among tweekers is to snitch each other off when they get in trouble... The truth is probably that the police watched KC and sent someone in to buy from her, but all the Bulbies will read in this is that there is a snitch out there.... will any luck they will evict each other over this
