Police Arrest Oakland Man in Albany After Serious Hit and Run on Highway

Authorities say Dadesi Brown may have fled the scene of an alcohol-involved crash on Interstate 80, at Central Avenue, which left another motorist with serious injuries over the weekend.

Authorities are investigating whether a man arrested with facial injuries and significant vehicle damage, who was driving the wrong way on Buchanan Street early Sunday, may have been involved in a serious hit-and-run crash on Interstate 80 that day.

Sgt. Tom Dolter said an officer arrested Dadesi Brown, 28, after he was spotted driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Buchanan at about 2:20 a.m.

Dolter said Brown's vehicle had major front-end damage. One of its wheels was rolling on a rim. And smoke was emanating from the vehicle, which had no lights.

An officer stopped Brown after he turned onto Fillmore Street, said Dolter, and found the driver to have facial lacerations.

Dolter said the California Highway Patrol was investigating whether Brown was involved in a serious crash that day on Interstate 80 near Central Avenue; the crash left one victim with a broken back and possible paralysis.
