Three robbers armed with handguns forced their way into an unlocked home on Jackson Street earlier this month and robbed the occupants at gunpoint, police said Thursday.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, the robbers went into a home in the 700 block of Jackson and found two men inside, including a resident and his guest.

The robbers prowled one room and took several items, said Albany Police Lt. Dan Adams, before leaving the house.

A woman who also lived in the home arrived on scene during the robbery and was outside when the robbers exited the home.

One of the men followed the robbers outside into the street and confronted them, either to identify the group or stop them from leaving.

One of the robbers then struck the man with his gun, and the group fled in a gray or silver Pontiac.

The robbers took various property and electronics, leaving two of the victims with minor injuries, said Adams.

He said police are actively working leads and seeking to identify all three robbers.
