Police Bulletin: Auto Thefts, A Hurled Brick, Laundry Prowler?

The following information was supplied by the Albany Police Department and does not indicate a conviction. The bulletin is edited lightly for readability and is a selection of recent activities.

JULY 3 DAYSHIFT

12:50 p.m. An  resident reported being pushed and threatened by a man who also lives at the Bulb. The assailant was described as in his 50s with blond dreadlocks. Case report taken.

JULY 3 NIGHTSHIFT

10:48 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from Jackson street. Case report taken.

JULY 4 DAYSHIFT

10:33 a.m. Someone called the police department to report that his dog, who had been staying with someone in Albany over the weekend, had choked to death and been buried in the pet sitter's yard. He told police he was en route to the city from out of town. Case report taken.

2 p.m. A truck was stolen from Fillmore Street. Case report taken.

JULY 4 NIGHTSHIFT

9:50 p.m. Police were called for a loud party with fireworks and music on Neilson and Terrace streets. Responsibles advised of complaint, will correct situation.

1:17 a.m. A man's car window was broken near Solano and Cerrito streets. Case report taken.

JULY 5 DAYSHIFT

4:32 p.m. Someone tagged overnight. Case report taken.

4:39 p.m. A man told police that another man had thrown a brick at him in front of City Hall. Responsibles advised of complaint, will correct situation. Parties contacted, refused prosecution.

JULY 5 NIGHTSHIFT

11:40 p.m. Someone broke into or stole something from the . Case report taken.

JULY 6 DAYSHIFT

12:47 p.m. A cyclist was taken to the hospital after a collision with a vehicle near Pierce and Buchanan streets. 

1:30 p.m. A bike was stolen from a front portch on Solano Avenue. The bike was described as a purple Beach Cruiser with white letters. Case report taken.

4:28 p.m. A man's shirt was ripped by a woman trying to serve him divorce papers on San Pablo Avenue. Case report taken.

5:06 p.m. A vehicle accident at Solano and San Carlos avenues left one person with neck and back injuries. Case report taken.

5:20 p.m. A vehicle was burglarized at Case report taken.

JULY 6 NIGHTSHIFT

2:08 a.m. Police arrested a San Francisco man and woman on suspicion of receiving stolen property after stopping them at the station. Yi Fung Tony Lee and Angel Baek were taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in downtown Oakland.

JULY 7 DAYSHIFT

9 a.m. Someone broke into a laundry room on Cornell Avenue. Case report taken.

12:14 p.m. Someone broke into a vehicle at the waterfront by smashing a window and stealing a wallet. 

2:04 p.m. A building owner visited the police department to report that someone had tried to get into his laundry room, on Brighton Avenue.

JULY 7 NIGHTSHIFT

7:25 p.m. Police responded to a report of two vehicles, a pickup and a Nissan Sentra, drag racing and driving on the sidewalk near Memorial Park. Miscellaneous warning given.

10:28 p.m. Someone stole a UPS package off a front porch on San Carlos.

1:40 a.m. Police arrested Christopher Sheridan of Berkeley on suspicion of driving under the influence at San Pablo and Camilia Street. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

JULY 8 DAYSHIFT

12:02 p.m. A Target employee reported being assaulated in the parking lot by someone she knew. Case report taken.

1:55 p.m. Someone reported that a teenage boy was standing in the middle of the men's bathroom at the Albany Bowl. "When someone enters the room, he runs into a stall and locks it down." The caller said he could not "get him out of the bathroom." Reported situation checks out OK. 

JULY 8 NIGHTSHIFT

2:04 a.m. Police arrested Vincent Bonilla of El Sobrante on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was stopped near . He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

JULY 9 DAYSHIFT

10:17 a.m. Police recovered a vehicle stolen out of Berkeley on Pierce Street. Case report taken.

JULY 10 DAYSHIFT

11:05 a.m. Someone on Evelyn reported that his or her home had been broken into the prior week while the caller was on vacation. Case report taken.

JULY 10 NIGHTSHIFT

11:38 p.m. A tree fell on a car on Brighton, causing damage. Miscellaneous public service provided.

2:31 a.m. Albany police took a Richmond man to jail after he was arrested in Contra Costa County on a warrant related to a burglary in Albany. Michael Staudinger was taken from the Martinez Detention Facility to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.
