Police Bulletin: DUIs, Bike Thefts, Waterfront Rave Party and More

The bulletin is edited lightly for readability. It is a selection of recent activities. View the full reports to the right.

This is the police bulletin from the  for the shifts from March 8 at 6 a.m. to March 14 at 6 a.m. See .

MARCH 8, DAYSHIFT

8:08 a.m. A burglary from a vehicle occurred on Santa Fe Avenue overnight. Case report taken.

11:10 a.m. A burglary from a vehicle occurred on Ordway Avenue overnight; the thief took a stereo. Log note only.

12:20 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from Ventura Avenue. Case report taken.

1:08 p.m.  A man claimed someone pulled a knife on him at the AM/PM market at . The man is the "same subject that calls 911 and claims to be a police officer." Miscellaneous public assistance provided.

2:22 p.m.  Someone came into the police department to appeal a parking citiation, but "did not like (the) explanation of steps to take" and demanded to speak with an officer. Miscellaneous public assistance provided.

MARCH 8, NIGHTSHIFT

8:06 p.m. A car was broken into on Masonic Avenue. Case report taken.

12:38 a.m. Police turned attemped partygoers away from the  after organizers planned a party at the waterfront. Police said large numbers of vehicles drove toward the dead end en route to the Bulb, but turned around because of their presence. Police said they found them later having the party on Taft Avenue, and dispersed the crowd. Several hours later, at 4:06 a.m., police reported more than 50 people on Taft. They arrested Maxim Nicholas Voronkov of Redwood City on suspicion of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana; he was cited and released.

MARCH 9, DAYSHIFT

8:23 a.m. A backpack was stolen out of a vehicle on Taft. Case report taken.

11:32 a.m. Someone reported a suspicious woman wearing a knit hat and jacket walking up to people's homes on Cornell Avenue. Police could not find her. The woman was in her 20s, 5 feet to 5 feet 2 inches tall.

11:40 a.m. Police arrested Yan Sen of Albany on Evelyn Avenue after she was reported to have been drinking for several days. Sen was arrested on suspicion of being habitually drunk in the presence of a child, and child endangerment. She was taken to North County Jail. She no longer appears to be in custody.

MARCH 10, DAYSHIFT

8:43 a.m. A woman on Cornell called 911 to report she can see bedbugs, but that her social worker wouldn't do anything about it. Miscellaneous public assistance provided.

10:04 a.m. Several iPods and cash were taken from the locker room at between 8 and 9 a.m. Case report taken.

10:08 a.m. Police helped the Bureau of Animal Control after the agency reported trash, and an odor of urine and feces coming from a house on Key Route Boulevard. Residents at the home recent turned over several dogs to the agency, but one "very aggressive pit bull" remains in the home. Case report taken.

MARCH 10, NIGHTSHIFT

6:01 p.m. Someone reported a dead squirrel in the road in front of a home on Cerrito Street. The caller was referred to an outside agency for help.

8:56 p.m. Two men were heard yelling in the 100 block of Kains Avenue south of Marin Avenue. The caller heard a car depart after one man accused the other of stealing something from him. Police were unable to locate the men. 

9:30 p.m. Someone reported a crowd of people in front of "making noise." Log note only.

12:03 a.m. Police arrested Chris Gene Sodo of Larkspur on suspicion of driving under the influence, near Interstate 580 and Bayview Avenue in Richmond. Sodo was taken to North County Jail. 

4:12 a.m. Lt. Morgado from the Alameda County Office of Emergency Services called to inform police that there would be no immediate coast line evacuation, and gave a recommendation to . Morgado said the tsunami would hit during low tide. Log note only.

MARCH 11, DAYSHIFT

10:15 a.m. Someone reporting finding a U.S. passport at . Log note only.

MARCH 11, NIGHTSHIFT

1:41 a.m.  Police arrested Rashaad Smith of Alameda on suspicion of reckless driving and several other violations, when he was stopped at Interstate 80 and Buchanan Avenue. Smith was taken to North County Jail. 

4:04 a.m. A vehicle was stolen on Gateview about 10 minutes earlier. Case report taken.

MARCH 12, DAYSHIFT

8:58 a.m. Boxes near a heater caught . The resident is outside. Police took a case report and provided help to the .

MARCH 12, NIGHTSHIFT

8:50 p.m. A caller reported two woman, about 21 years old, with long black hair on San Pablo having an on-going verbal fight in a store for 20 minutes. Police were unable to locate the women.

9:20 p.m. Two men in the clubhouse on Eastshore Highway were taken to the hospital after a fight, though no injuries or weapons were reported. 

10:18 p.m. A caller reported that someone was playing the saxophone in the back yard on Cornell two houses north. Report is unfounded.

10:24 p.m. Someone tried to steal a car, and damaged the ignition, at  on Pierce Street.

4:15 a.m. Police arrested Jorge Villafania of Richmond on suspicion of driving under the influence near Gilman Avenue, and having a blood alcohol content of .08 or greater. Villafania was taken to North County Jail.

MARCH 13, DAYSHIFT

10:36 a.m. An antique garden status was reported stolen from yard on Curtis Street. Case report taken.

12:51 p.m. Someone reported that two vehicles, within 15 minutes, had been burglarized at the via a window smash.

2:01 p.m. Someone reported a homeless person sleeping on a neighbor's lawn near Marin, Kains and Stannage avenues. Log note only.

5:27 p.m. A bicycle was stolen on Curtis. Case report taken.

5:31 p.m. Two bicycles were reported stolen on Stannage Avenue. Case report taken.

MARCH 13, NIGHTSHIFT

3:21 a.m. Police arrested Stephanie Paglia of Berkeley on suspicion of driving under the influence near the on Solano Avenue. She was taken to North County Jail.
