Police Bulletin: Stolen Old Glory, Trouble at the Ivy, Sizzler Sorrows, Kate Spade Bag Blues

The following information was supplied by the Albany Police Department and does not indicate a conviction. The bulletin is edited lightly for readability and is a selection of recent activities.

JUNE 26, DAYSHIFT

8:55 a.m. A woman walking her dog reported being charged by another dog. She told police the dog had been with and a woman who "appeared to have a hard time controlling them." No one was hurt.

JUNE 26, NIGHTSHIFT

12:20 a.m. Police found an unoccupied vehicle on Hillside and Taft avenues that had been stolen out of Hercules. Case report taken.

JUNE 27, DAYSHIFT

10:08 a.m. A woman on San Carlos Avenue called to report that someone had called her mother pretending to be her mother's grandson, and asked for money. The grandmother hung up on the person, who was not her grandson, and the daughter called police for advice. Log note only.

10:54 a.m. Someone found a wallet at Brighton and Masonic avenues. Case report taken.

JUNE 27, NIGHTSHIFT

9:42 p.m. Police arrested Jacques Armistead of Richmond, at San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street, on a warrant from the BART police related to marijuana possession. He was cited and released. Case report taken.

12:36 a.m. Someone called to report "a group of people being loud near the ." Responsible people advised of complaint, will correct situation.

1:57 a.m. Police arrested Jared Brandon Warpack on Buchanan Street on suspicion of driving under the influence. Warpack, of Oakland, was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in downtown Oakland.

2:03 a.m. Police ticketed a minor after a disturbance was reported on Talbot Avenue. According to a caller, people were yelling inside a gold SUV, and then someone ran south on Talbot and threw something under a car. The minor was released to his or her parents. Case report taken.

JUNE 28, DAYSHIFT

4:41 p.m. Someone stole brandy and a wheelchair from another person on San Pablo Avenue. Case report taken.

JUNE 28, NIGHTSHIFT

6:14 p.m. Someone at reported that a truck was broken into in the parking lot. Case report taken.

3:09 a.m. A man broke the window at the . Case report taken.

JUNE 29, DAYSHIFT

5:01 p.m. Several boys, who appeared to be 13 or 14, got a warning from police for throwing rocks from the roof of .

JUNE 29, NIGHTSHIFT

7 p.m. Someone on Stannage Avenue reported that a woman in her 70s had walked into the caller's home "confused and short of breath," saying "she's trying to get home" to Minnesota. Miscellaneous public service provided.

11:11 p.m. Police came across a "very intoxicated female" minor on Solano Avenue. She was released to her parents. Case report taken.

1:36 a.m. Police arrested Herman Howard of San Lorenzo on suspicion of driving under the influence at San Pablo and Harrison Street. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

2:42 a.m. Police arrested Tonyia Pryor of Berkeley on suspicion of driving under the influence at San Pablo and Gilman Street. She was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

JUNE 30, DAYSHIFT

9:53 a.m. A tutor at the community center said she was being harrassed by someone "who paid for materials and then did not attend class and wants a refund." Civil matter, parties advised.

JULY 1, DAYSHIFT

9:01 a.m. Someone called to report that a GPS unit and Bluetooth device were stolen from a vehicle on Taft Avenue. The caller said the thief had broken into the vehicle, but wasn't sure how. Log note only.

11:14 a.m. Someone found a wallet and flash drive on the sidewalk on Pomona Avenue. Miscellaneous public service provided.

4:22 p.m. Someone stole a front bike wheel of a bicycle on Evelyn Avenue. Log note only. 

JULY 1, NIGHTSHIFT

7:15 p.m. Police arrested Teresa Sofinski of Richmond in connection with a hit-and-run causing property damage to a car at the . Sofinski was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was cited and released. 

8:47 p.m. Someone busted a window and broke into a blue Camaro parked in the Sizzler parking lot. Case report taken.

9:43 p.m. Someone reported a "noisy group loitering" outside the Mallard. Responsible parties advised of complaint, will correct situation.

12:27 a.m. Security at the flagged down police to help with a "belligerent female." Miscellaneous violation, warning given.

1:48 a.m. Someone reported that a group of men outside the Ivy Room was bothering her and her family "trying to start a fight." Log note only.

1:57 a.m. Police arrested James Pell of Richmond in the 100 block of San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

JULY 2, DAYSHIFT

4:10 p.m. A woman reported that her yellow Kate Spade purse was stolen from the Berkeley Marina, and that her credit card had been used in Albany. She told police she was "only interested in getting her purse back in case someone turns it in." Log note only.

JULY 2, NIGHTSHIFT

7:42 p.m. Someone stole an American flag on a pole from a home on Cerrito Street. Case report taken.

2:14 a.m. Police broke up a physical fight at the Ivy Room. Disputing parties separated, matter resolved.

2:23 a.m. Police arrested Yong Lee of Albany on suspicion of driving under the influence on Madison Street. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.

5:13 a.m. Police arrested William Nidever of Richmond after he was reportedly found inside a janitor's closet on Pierce Street. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility.
