Police Bulletin: Tanning Salon Oil Spill, Cat Bite, Police Chase Stolen Car and More

APRIL 15, DAYSHIFT

10:38 a.m. A man at Cornell and Solano avenues, wearing a gray "510" cap and a dark gray and navy jacket, was reportedly trying to get into the newspaper change box with a drill. Situation checks out OK.

11:39 a.m. A woman reported an auto burglary on Jackston Street. She said someone broke into her rear passenger window and took bags, but that it may have happened earlier in the month. Case report taken.

2:28 p.m. A man in his 40s was said to be running around Brighton and Stannage avenues "taking his shirt off, weaving in/out of the road yelling screaming." The caller was concerned the man might hurt himself. Unable to locate source of the complaint.

5:04 p.m. A caller near Susan's Nail Salon on San Pablo Avenue reported a "small dog left in car for the past 30 minutes, barking/yapping." Request for police cancelled. 

APRIL 15, NIGHTSHIFT

6:09 p.m. Someone came into the Police Department to report a case of identity theft. Case report taken. 

6:51 p.m. A set of keys was found on the sidewalk near a silver vehicle near Dartmouth Street and San Pablo. Message left.

7:23 p.m. An officer spotted a group of youth drinking near Portland and Masonic avenues. Warning given.

1:52 a.m. Police arrested Javkhangerel Batsaikhan of Oakland on suspicion of driving under the influence near Buchanan and Madison streets. He was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland. 

APRIL 16, DAYSHIFT

6:09 a.m. Someone on Brighton complained to police about a neighbor playing an electric bass, and asked that the officer "listen from her rear yard." Police informed the responsible party, who said he or she would correct the situation.

6:46 a.m. Someone reported a vandalism on Portland after a car windown had been broken in the night. Case report taken.

2:34 p.m. Someone was "walking in the middle of the street" on San Pablo "saying he wants to die." He was found in El Cerrito. Assistance provided to the El Cerrito Police Department.

5:30 p.m. A employee reported receiving several harrassing phone calls. In the first, a woman called to demand a refund from her dinner and, according to the bulletin, was told she could have one. Afterwards, a man said to be 25-30 years old "keeps calling and making racial slurs and harrassing employees over the phone." Miscellaneous public service provided.

APRIL 16, NIGHTSHIFT

7:45 p.m. A group of seven to eight 13- to 15-year-olds were reported at "breaking glass and yelling profanities near (the) picnic table.) Unable to locate source of the complaint.

9:11 p.m. Someone called from Jackson Street to report that his or her 15-year-old son went to a sleepver in El Cerrito without permission. Log note only.

APRIL 17, DAYSHIFT

9:04 a.m. A bike was stolen from in front of the night before. Case report taken. 

10:40 a.m. Someone reportedly tried to pry open gas caps on at least two vehicles in a gated lot behind . Case report taken.

APRIL 17, NIGHTSHIFT

6:05 p.m. A vehicle was stolen from earlier in the day. Case report taken. 

8:21 p.m. Police responded to a disturbance of the peace at after a group of 10 people at the front desk refused to leave. Disputing parties separated, matter resolved. 

12:26 a.m. A police officer tried to stop what appeared to be a stolen car near Buchanan and Polk streets. The driver failed to stop, and a pursuit followed. Police arrested Anthony Fazzio of Clearlake on suspicion of failing to stop for the officer, driving a stolen vehicle and failing to stop after an accident. Fazzio was taken to the Glenn E. Dyer Detention Facility in Oakland. 

APRIL 18, DAYSHIFT

9:41 a.m. Police split up a fight between two people at . 

10:18 a.m. A parent called to report that his or her son was refusing to go to school, which was described as an on-going issue. The boy left before police arrived.

3:07 p.m. Someone came into the Police Department to report a cat bite. 

3:41 p.m. The Albany Fire Department responded to Clay Street and San Pablo to clean up an oil spill in the street across from a tanning salon. 

4:13 p.m. A man on Brighton Avenue reported that someone had taken his license plates off his vehicle and replaced them with stolen plates. Case report taken. 

5:01 p.m. Police found two stolen license plates on Brighton Avenue. Case report taken.
