Police Bulletin: Tires Slashed at Hotsy, Juvies Smoking Pot, Vehicle Tampering and DUI

DAYSHIFT

9:21 a.m. Petty Theft

A car battery was stolen out of a vehicle parked on San Gabriel Avenue sometime last night. Disposition: Case Report Taken.

9:22 a.m. Petty Theft

Something was stolen out of a vehicle parked on Marin Avenue. Disposition: Case Report Taken.

12:24 p.m. Welfare Check

Police checked on an older man with a shopping cart and crutch in front of RPR Company, a discount Volvo parts store, on San Pablo Avenue. Disposition: No Police Action Warranted At This Time.

1:59 p.m. Abandoned Vehicle

Someone called to report a vehicle parked on Cornell Avenue for more than a week. Disposition: Log Note Only.

3:11 p.m. Possession of Marijuana

Police cited a group of five to six juveniles who were loitering on Adams Street around the stairwell to an apartment complex smoking marijuana. Disposition: Misc Violation - Citation Issued.

4:15 p.m. Welfare Check

Police checked on a man in his 40s, wearing a blue jacket near a pay phone, the "same subject that calls 911 all the time." Disposition: Matter or Reported Situation Checks Out OK.

NIGHTSHIFT

7:27 p.m. Misc Civil Matter

Someone visited the police department wanting to speak with an officer regarding an overdue vehicle that was being shipped from Maryland. Disposition: Miscellaneous Public Service Provided.

10:28 p.m. Vehicle Tampering

Police arrested Kenneth Dwayne Hayes, of Oakland, after he was said to be checking cars near Dartmouth Street, Key Route Boulevard and Pomona Avenue. He was arrested on suspicion of vehicle tampering and parole violation. Hayes, 41, was taken to North County Jail, where he is being held without bail. His arraignment hearing is scheduled for March 4 at 2 p.m., according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Department.

2:16 a.m. Vandalism

Someone slashed the tires of a vehicle parked at the on San Pablo Avenue. Disposition: Case Report Taken.

2:30 a.m. Driving Under the Influence

Alan Martinez, of Castro Valley, was arrested on San Pablo Avenue on suspicion of driving under the influence.
