Police Calls: 11 Arrests in 1 Day, Including 4 on Pot for Sale

The Albany police logs for Nov. 9-10 include four people arrested with more than two pounds of marijuana, four other people arrested on DUI, two cases of hit and run with damage and a costume coat stolen at the Albany Twin.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Nov. 9

Hit and run with damage – At 11:41 a.m., police logged a report of a cold hit and run on Cornell. Disposition: Log note only.

Petty theft, check fraud arrest – At 3:13 p.m., police arrested a 46-year-old Berkeley man at Eastshore and Harrison on suspicion of petty theft and check fraud.

Drug, DUI arrest – At 3:37 p.m., police arrested a 46-year-old Berkeley man at Golden Gate Fields on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and driving under the influence. The arrest followed a 3:27 p.m. report of man acting "crazy" at the Buchanan Interchange.

Juveniles breaking a bottle at Memorial Park – At 5:32 p.m., police received a report of three male juveniles in black clothing with skateboards breaking a bottle near the flower garden between the Memorial building and the tennis courts at Memorial Park. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.

Non-injury accident – At 9:43 p.m., police logged a report of a non-injury accident involving a newer black Mercedes SUV and an orange Honda at Goodyear on San Pablo. The reporting party is declining medical treatment for now. The parties exchanged information. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Sunday, Nov. 10

DUI arrest – At 1:36 a.m., police arrested a 32-year-old Pinole man at Buchanan and Jackson on suspicion of driving under the influence.

2 arrested on DUI – At 4 a.m., police arrested a 25-year-old Fairfield woman and a 29-year-old Napa woman Neilson and Marin on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more. The arrests followed, and may be linked to, a 2:47 a.m. report of a female driver hitting the front facade of Buo Luang Thai on Solano and then driving away eastbound on Solano. The report said the driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

4 arrested with pot – At 10:13 a.m., police arrested four people – a 24-year-old man from Quebec, Canada, a 31-year-old man from Camarillo, a 25-year-old man from Brighton, MA, and a 23-year-old woman from Ontario, Canada – at Solano and Jackson on suspicion of possessing pot for sale. The Massachusetts man was arrested also on suspicion of transport or sale of marijuana. The arrests followed a 9:45 a.m. report of four people spotted in a car who appeared to have bags of marijuana on Jackson. More than two pounds of pot were recovered. 

Financial fraud arrest – 11:19 a.m., police arrested a 66-year-old Berkeley man at 1100 Eastshore on suspicion of using a fictitious financial instrument. The arrest followed a 10:48 a.m. report of a subject in custody for passing counterfeit $20 bills at Golden Gate Fields.

Costume coat taken at Albany Twin – At 12:06 p.m., police received a report of a costume coat taken the night before at the Albany Twin. The reporting party knows who took and has a possible address for her. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Man shouting in complex on Kains – At 1:54 p.m., police received a report of man walking through a complex on Kains shouting. The reporting party would like an officer to drive through the area. Disposition: Log note only.

Battery at Club Mallard – At 2:04 p.m., a person reported being the victim of a battery last night at Club Mallard. 

Auto burglary – At 2:47 p.m., police logged a report that an unknown subject took parts from the victim's vehicle on Pierce. Disposition: Case report taken.

Intoxicated male taken to hospital – At 5:04 p.m., police received a report of a male subject who was intoxicated and down in the middle of the north lot at Golden Gate Fields. Disposition: Subject/s transported to hospital.

Hit and run with damage – At 6:26 p.m., police logged a report of a cold hit and run with damage to a parked vehicle in the area of Kains and Marin. The reporting party says she has information on a possible suspect vehicle. Damage on the suspect vehicle is not consistent with damage to the reporting party's vehicle. The reporting party says she will handle the matter with insurance. Disposition: Log note only.

2 arrested on check fraud – 9:21 p.m., police arrested two Oakland women, age 27 and 31, at 703 Solano Ave. on suspicion of check fraud. The younger woman was arrested also on suspicion of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Arrest for robbery, domestic battery causing injury – At 9:58 p.m., police arrested a 42-year-old Albany man in the 1100 block of Garfield on suspicion of robbery and domestic battery causing injury. The arrest followed a 9:23 p.m. report of battery on Garfield.
