Police Calls: 3 Cases of Battery, 3 Petty Thefts, 3 Teens Smoking Pot

The Albany police logs for Oct. 14-15 include three cases of battery, three crimes described only as "petty theft," three teens reported smoking pot, several police visits to Albany High, "mayhem" on San Pablo and a toilet dropped on a street.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Monday, Oct. 14

Burglary – At 8:27 a.m., police logged a cold burglary on Spokane. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft – At 8:30 a.m., police logged a petty theft on Spokane. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft – At 8:31 a.m., police logged a petty theft on Spokane. Disposition: Case report taken.

Attempted hotwire of van at Albany High – At 9:20 a.m., police received a report that an unknown person attempted to hotwire one of the vans parked between the kitchen and pool at Albany High School. Disposition: Case report taken.

Battery involving Albany High – At 9:54 a.m., police logged a "battery" report that included officer-initiated activity at Albany High School. Disposition: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – At 9:56 a.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident involving two vehicles at Solano and Stannage with a Mercedes blocking traffic. Disposition: Case report taken.

Mayhem on San Pablo – At 11:42 a.m., police logged a "mayhem" report that included officer-initiated activity on San Pablo Avenue. Disposition: Log note only.

Toilet dropped on street – At 2:26 p.m., police received a report a toilet dropped in the #2 westbound lane on the roadway at Buchanan and Pierce. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Problem at Albany High – At 3:43 p.m., police logged a "juvenile problem" report that included officer-initiated activity at Albany High School. Disposition: Case report taken.

Contraband at Albany High – At 3:43 p.m., police received a report of contraband found at Albany High School. Disposition: Case report taken.

3 male teens seen smoking pot – At 5:08 p.m., police received a report of three high school-aged males smoking marijuana near the driveway of Cash 4 Gold on San Pablo. Disposition: Log note only.

Injury accident – At 5:56 p.m., police received a report of an injury accident at San Pablo and Castro. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Non-injury accident – At 7:14 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident on the Buchanan overpass. Disposition: Vehicle towed.

Assault at Club Mallard – At 8:56 p.m., police received a second-hand report a male patron being assaulted by another male patron two minutes earlier at Club Mallard on San Pablo. No weapons were involved, and no medical was needed. The person responsible left in an unknown vehicle and was being pursued by a subject in brown Bronco. Disposition: Case report taken.

Tuesday, Oct. 15

Cyberstalking at Albany High
– At 10:34 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity at Albany High School involving cyberstalking of a student. Disposition: Case report taken.

License plates stolen
– At 12:24 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported two license plates stolen on Peralta. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft – At 12:37 p.m., police logged a petty theft on Peralta. Disposition: Case report taken.

Identity theft
– At 2:02 p.m., police received a report of checking accounts having been compromised. Disposition: Log note only.

Group looking for a fight
– At 4:01 p.m., police received a report of 11 individuals heading to Cougar Field trying to start a fight. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Tied dog barking outside Albany Taproom
– At 9:41 p.m., police received a report of a dog tied up in front of Albany Taproom on San Pablo for about an hour and barking at the door. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Arrest for battery causing serious injury – Police arrested a 29-year-old Richmond man at 1000 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of battery causing serious bodily injury and on suspicion of disturbing the peace, challenging or fighting in a building or at an educational facility.
