Police Calls: 3 Cases of Battery, Fake Money, Thefts at Target

The Albany police logs for Oct. 28-29 include a beating at a taco truck, a battery that sent the victim to the emergency room, a person hit in the mouth near the police station, several thefts at Target and a resident illegally painting a curb red.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Monday, Oct. 28

Resident paints illegal red curb 
– At 8:56 a.m., police received a report of a resident painting an illegal red curb on Pierce. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Person hit in mouth near Police Department
 – At 10:45 a.m., a reported having been just hit in the mouth a block away from the Police Department. The responsible was last seen driving north on San Pablo. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Truck hits fire hydrant
 – At 11:37 a.m., police received a report of truck hitting a fire hydrant on the southeast corner of Solano and Kains. The fire hydrant is lightly leaking, and the truck is parked nearby with a flat tire. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Man tries to buy gas with fake
 $20 bill – At 1:12 p.m., police received a report of a man at pump #5 on San Pablo trying to pay with a fake $20 bill. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: the log entry doesn't say which gas station was involved.)

Theft suspects at Target
 – At 8:14 p.m., police received a report of two women in the electronics section at Target who had been seen on video in the past taking items and hiding them under their jackets. Disposition: Vehicle towed.

Burglary, petty theft arrest at Target 
– At 8:24 p.m., police arrested a 22-year-old El Sobrante man at Target on suspicion of burglary and petty theft.

Tuesday, Oct. 29

Burglary, suspects spotted 
– At 9:36 a.m., police logged a report of a burglary 10 minutes earlier on Stannage by two men who departed possibly toward Solano. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: The log entry doesn't say what kind of burglary it was or what was taken.) 

Yelling, breaking glass heard – At 10:02 a.m., police received a report of an male and female yelling and the sound of breaking glass on Adams. Disposition: Log note only.

Man going through dumpsters – At 10:22 a.m., police received a report of a man in a black hat and gray sweatshirt going through dumpsters on Solano since 6 a.m. The reporting party says it's an ongoing issue and would like him permanently removed from the situation. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Battery with injury – At 11:34 a.m., police received a report that a person is in the emergency room who said he was assaulted in the last hour by his 14-year-old stepson on Jackson. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Beating at taco truck in Albany – At 12:38 p.m., police received a report that someone was beaten up by someone else at a taco truck in Albany. The reporting party is calling from the Kaiser Sacramento call center. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Burglary at Buddhist Priory – At 1:04 p.m., police received a report of cold burglary at the garage office of the Berkeley Buddhist Priory on Marin. An unknown subject broke in and took money possibly sometime this morning or yesterday afternoon. Disposition: Case report taken.

Identity theft – At 1:08 p.m., police received a report of identity theft from a person in the police lobby. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man in camouflage spoiling for fight at Albany Shell – At 2:04 p.m., police received a report of a man in camouflage clothing with multiple duffle bags yelling and challenging people to a fight at Albany Shell. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Vehicle accident – At 4:51 p.m., police received a report of an accident involving two vehicles at Solano and Pomona. The reporting party, who was not involved in the accident, said it appeared that there were no injuries. Disposition: Log note only.

Auto vandalism – At 5:29 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle window smashed within the last 20 minutes at Lumber Liquidators on Eastshore. Disposition: Case report taken.
