Police Calls: 4 Petty Thefts in 1 Day, Dog Injures Dog

The Albany police log for Oct. 25 includes an armed carjacking previously reported on Patch, arrests of two 18-year-olds on resisting an officer and possessing pot for sale (previously reported), four petty thefts and a spitting-in-face assault.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Oct. 25

Man rummaging in garbage cans
– At 7:42 a.m., police received a report of an older man in a blue jacket and blue pants with a large cart rummaging through garbage cans on Stannage. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Suspicious circumstance
– At 11:12 a.m., police logged a "suspicious circumstance" report occurring at Solano and Pierce. The subject was in the police lobby. Disposition: Case report taken.

Juveniles fighting on BART path
– At 11:24 a.m., police received a report of several male juveniles fighting near the BART path and Albany Middle School. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: This was one of the two incidents on the BART path in the late morning described in an Oct. 26 Patch story, "5 Teens Arrested in 2 BART Path Incidents Friday, Several Chased and Caught.")

Resisting an officer arrest – At 10:45 a.m., police arrested an 18-year-old El Cerrito male at 401 Stannage on suspicion of resisting an officer. (Editor's note: This suspect was one of five teens arrested on that day in connection with two incidents on the BART path in the late morning. See the Oct. 26 Patch story, "5 Teens Arrested in 2 BART Path Incidents Friday, Several Chased and Caught.")

Pot for sale arrest – At 11:58 a.m., police arrested an 18-year-old Albany male in the 400 block of Cornell on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale. (Editor's note: This suspect was one of five teens arrested on that day in connection with two incidents on the BART path in the late morning. See the Oct. 26 Patch story, "5 Teens Arrested in 2 BART Path Incidents Friday, Several Chased and Caught.")

Petty theft – At 3:40 p.m., police logged a "petty theft" that occurred somewhere on San Pablo by a man in his 20s wearing a black shirt and dark khaki pants. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: the log entry doesn't say what was taken.)

Petty theft – At 3:10 p.m., police logged a "petty theft" report in connection with officer-initiated activity at the Albany Police Department. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: the log entry doesn't indicate what was taken, where it was taken or whether any suspect or suspects were identified.)

Petty theft arrest at Target – At 4:05 p.m., police arrested a 24-year-old Moraga man at Target on suspicion of petty theft. The arrest followed a 3:40 p.m report of petty theft at Target.

Petty theft of bike at Middle School – At 5:11 p.m., a reporting party told police that a bike was stolen from his son at Albany Middle School today. Disposition: Case report taken.

Trespassing arrest – At 5:18 p.m., police arrested a 37-year-old Albany man in the 500 block of Pierce Street on suspicion of trespassing. This arrest followed a 4:55 p.m. report of a man in blue jeans with a backpack entering a property on Pierce without permission.

Drunk driver reported – At 5:23 p.m., police logged a report from a taxi driver that an intoxicated female passenger got out of the cab and drove away in another vehicle. The driver wanted to report it because she was intoxicated. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Dog attacked, injured by another dog – At 6:12 p.m., a resident reported that the dog of a neighbor on Marin attacked and injured the reporting party's dog. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

911 call of spitting-in-face – At 8:02 p.m., police logged a report of someone hitting doors and spitting in the reporting party's face. Disposition: Log note only.

Stolen cell phone pinging to Albany address – At 8:54 p.m., police received a report that three minutes ago a stolen cell phone was pinging back to an address on Washington. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Armed carjacking – At 9:22 p.m., police logged a report of a carjacking of a silver Impala on Ramona. A gun was involved. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: this crime was reported in an Oct. 26 Patch article, "Carjacking at Gunpoint in Albany Friday Night."

Dog barking – At 11 p.m., police received a report that a neighbor's dog on Carmel has been barking for approximately six minutes and that this is an ongoing issue. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
