Police Calls: 4 Reports of Suspicious AT&T Callers in 1 Day; Baby Formula Stolen

The Albany police log for Aug. 21 includes four reports of suspicious solicitors claiming to work for AT&T, a report of aggressive solicitors for an Indian casino, an iPod stolen from a vehicle whose window was smashed and a neighbor's cat run over.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

Loud party on Taylor – At 12:12 a.m., police received a complaint of a loud party on Taylor. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Outstanding warrant arrest 
– At 12:35 a.m., police arrested a 22-year-old San Pablo man at Eastshore and Buchanan on an outstanding warrant. 

Arrest for driving without license, giving false info – At 2:02 a.m., police arrested a 35-year-old Downey man on suspicion of driving without a license and giving false information to police.

Suspicious man in AT&T shirt – At 8:54 a.m., police received a report that on Aug. 20 around 8:30 p.m., a man in an AT&T shirt with no truck around came to the reporting party's door asking if she had Comcast or AT&T and saying they've been having reports of people having problems with their lines. She said she called only to have a record of the incident and was advised to contact Albany police if the man returns. Disposition: Log note only.

iPod stolen from vehicle – At 9:11 a.m., police received a report of an iPod taken from an auto on Brighton whose window was smashed. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Aggressive man posing as AT&T employee – At 10:07 a.m., police received a report of a man posing as an AT&T on Curtis on Monday night being aggressive and repeating the reporting party's name. Disposition: Log note only.

Two aggressive solicitors – At 4:51 p.m., police received a report of two men who said they were from an Indian casino asking for signatures and collective money. They were aggressive with the reporting party. Disposition: Log note only.

Suspicious AT&T reps – At 5:57 p.m., police received a call from a resident on Peralta saying a man who came to her door on the previous evening stating he was from AT&T is back on her block with another man wearing a reflective vest with AT&T on the back. She would like someone to check them out. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Neighbor's cat run over – At 6:09 p.m., a person reported accidentally running over a neighbor's cat. The owner isn't home. (Editor's note: the log entry says, "Occurred at Albany Home Services on Madison." Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided. 

Suspicious AT&T employee – At 6:44 p.m., police received a report of a man with an AT&T logo jacket and ID on Johnson "claiming to be with AT&T offering services, but acting suspiciously." He was accompanied by a woman. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Baby formula stolen at Target – At 8:59 p.m., police received a report of baby formula stolen by two women and a man at Target. The suspects fled in a dark green four-door late '80s vehicle. Disposition: Case report taken. Editor's note: the log entry is titled "Petty Theft," while the entry text says, "$1000 baby formula.")
