Police Calls: 5 Arrests 2 Days, Lost Diamond/Gold Bracelet, Man Swinging Machete

The Albany police logs for Aug. 5-6 include five driving-related arrests, a lost gold and diamond bracelet, a tattooed woman driving dangerously, a machete-swinging man checking car door handles, and an injured cat with no ride to the vet.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Monday, Aug. 5

DUI arrest – At 12:46 a.m., police arrested a 25-year-old Berkeley man in the 1000 block of San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Auto burglary – At 7:08 a.m., police received a report of petty theft from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Sante Fe. Disposition: Log note only.

Lost gold and diamond bracelet – At 11:05 a.m., a female who frequents the Albany area reported losing a thin while gold and diamond bracelet sometime in the last couple of days. She also made a report to Berkeley police. Disposition: Log note only.

Two males in altercation – At 2:47 p.m., police received a report of two males in dispute heard by neighbor on Jackson since 10 a.m. The reporting party said it may be becomig physical. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Non-injury accident – At 4:57 p.m., police received a report of non-injury accident involving a tan Lexus and a light blue Honda Civic westbound Marin just east of San Pablo Avenue. Disposition: Log note only.

Machete-swinging man checking car door handles – At 5:04 p.m., police received a report of man swinging a machete and checking car door handles on Kains. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Reckless driving arrest – At 6:11 p.m., police arrested a 47-year-old Kensington man at 999 San Pablo on suspicion of reckless driving in a parking lot or garage.

Loud teens with alcohol bottles – At 10:02 p.m., police received a report of 10-15 teens with alcohol bottles being loud 10 minutes earlier near the parking area of Waterfront Park. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

Arrest for DUI and driving while addicted – At 1:45 a.m., police arrested a 30-year-old transient female from San Francisco on suspicion of driving under the influence and driving by a person who addicted to drugs.

Arrest for allowing unlicensed driver to drive, possessing a switchblade 
– At 1:47 a.m. police arrested a 59-year-old San Francisco man at Buchanan and Interstate 80 on suspicion of possessing a switchblade in a vehicle and allowing an unlicensed driver to use a vehicle.

DUI arrest – At 2:54 a.m., police arrested a 32-year-old Vallejo man at Pierce and Central on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Craigslist scam – At 9:43 a.m., police received a request for advice regarding a Craigslist scam involving the purchase of a vehicle. Disposition: Civil matter – parties advised. 

Mother, daughter stranded by flat tire – At 11:52 a.m., police received a report of a mother and daughter and stranded in the Petsmart parking lot with a left front flat tire. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Dangerous driver with tattoos – At 12:20 p.m., police logged a report of a female driver in her 40s with tattoos on both arms "trying to run PEO off the road." Disposition: Log note only.

Man refusing to leave – At 4:49 p.m., police received a complaint about a man in his 50s with a cane refusing to leave the Arco Am/Pm on San Pablo. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 7:47 p.m., police logged a report of non-injury accident involving "2171 vs. a parked car." Disposition: Case report taken.

Injured cat – At 11:54 p.m., police logged a report from a person on Pomona with an injured cat. The reporting party contacted the an emergency vet clinic in Berkeley who will take the cat, the log item says, "but he he doesn't want to take it there. He will meet you at the above location." Disposition: Log note only.
