Police Calls: 6 Arrests in 2 Days, Punched by Lifeguard at Albany Pool
The Albany police logs for Dec. 28-29 include six arrests for various offenses, red spray paint on Albany High, identity theft, a water main break, keys dropped into a storm drain while stretching and juveniles smoking in a parked car.
The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.
Saturday, Dec. 28
DUI arrest – At 2:19 a.m., police arrested a 30-year-old Oakland man at 800 Madison on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Identity theft – At 1:50 p.m., police logged a report of identity theft filed by a person at the police station. Disposition: Case report taken.
Theft at Target – At 3:20 p.m., police received a report that a woman was being detained in the security office at Target for shoplifting. Disposition: Request for police canceled.

Non-injury accident – At 3:39 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury collision involving 3-4 cars at Marin and Talbot. Disposition: Case report taken.
Arrest for theft of lost property – At 4:48 p.m., police arrested a 61-year-old Vallejo man at 1100 Eastshore on suspicion of theft of lost property. The arrest followed a 4:05 p.m. report of person being held in the security office at Golden Gate Fields after attempting to cash a stolen voucher.
Juveniles smoking in a parked car – At 4:39 p.m., police received a report of 3-4 juveniles smoking in a parked silver Saturn on Madison. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
Spray paint on Albany High – At 7:51 p.m., police received a report of red spray paint on the outside of the building at Albany High. Disposition: Case report taken.
Suspended/invalid license arrest – At 8:52 p.m., police arrested a 65-year-old Oakland man at San Pablo and Monroe on suspicion of driving on a suspended or invalid license.
Sunday, Dec. 29
Drug and drug paraphernalia arrest – At 12:46 a.m., police arrested a 55-year-old San Leandro man 1100 Eastshore on illegal possession of a controlled substance and of drug paraphernalia. The arrest followed a 12:36 a.m. report of a suspicious vehicle at Golden Gate Fields.
DUI arrest – At 3:35 a.m., police arrested a 24-year-old Oakland man at Garfield and San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
Water main break – At 5:45 a.m., police logged a report of a water main break at Albany Florist on San Pablo. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.
Keys fell into storm drain – At 7:26 a.m., a subject in the lobby reported that keys fell into a storm drain in El Cerrito while stretching. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.
Punched in head by lifeguard at Albany pool – At 2:49 p.m., police logged a report of a subject being punched in the head by another lifeguard earlier today at the Albany pool. It started over a social networking site days earlier. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.
Complaint over neighbor comments to future buyers of house – At 4:16 p.m., police logged a report from a subject who "complained about neighbors comments about her house to future buyers. Disposition: Log note only.
Fire in pit at Albany Bulb – At 4:40 p.m., police received a report of fire in the pit at Albany Bulb. There's just smoke at this time. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.
Drunk/disorderly and outstanding warrant arrest – At 11:39 p.m., police arrested a 31-year-old Albany man at San Pablo and Portland on an outstanding warrant and on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The arrest followed a 10:36 p.m. report of an officer-initiated check of a pedestrian.
