Police Calls: 6 Arrests in 2 Days, Rocks Thrown at Cars

The Albany police log for April 27-28 includes arrests for attempted fraud at Target, vandalism at Club Mallard, possession of burglary tools with criminal intent, driving under the influence and drunk/disorderly conduct.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Saturday, April 27

Drunk/disorderly arrest – At 12:54 a.m., an officer arrested a male pedestrian from Albany on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way at 619 San Pablo Ave.

DUI arrest – At 2:43 a.m., police arrested a male from Richmond at Carlson and San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Rock with note through window – At 3:03 a.m., police received a report of rock with a note attached thrown through a front window on Kains. The reporting party was frightened and didn't want to turn on a light to read the note. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Accident – At 10:21 a.m., police received a report of a moving truck hitting a parked vehicle within the past hour. Disposition: Case report taken.

Theft arrests – At 1:20 p.m., police arrested a man and a woman from Richmond at Target after they allegedly tried to return items stolen out of the store. They were arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a crime and intent to commit burglary.

Hit and run – At 12:33 p.m., police received a report of hit and run accident with damage involving a vehicle-vs.-bike at Solano and Pierce. Disposition: Case report taken.

Burglary tools, warrant arrest – At 1:41 p.m., police logged the arrest of an Albany male at another person's house in the 700 block of Johnson on suspicion of possessing burglary tools with criminal intent and on a warrant from an outside agency.

Injury accident – At 4:34 p.m., police logged an injury vehicle accident at Solano and Pierce. Disposition: Case report taken.

Neighbors shooting air gun – At 7:56 p.m., police received a report from Balra of rear neighbors shooting an air gun in the yard. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to an outside agency. [Editor's note: Balra is in El Cerrito.]

Neighbors shooting air gun again – At 8:16 p.m., police received a report from Balra saying kids were shooting an air gun in the yard after El Cerrito police left. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to an outside agency. 

Non-injury accident – At 8:49 p.m., police received a report of non-injury accident involving a Toyota Matrix and a Volvo at Brighton and Cornell. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Sunday, April 28

Club Mallard vandalism, theft arrest – Police arrested a young woman bartender from Richmond after receiving a report at 12:54 a.m. that she damaged property in the restroom at Club Mallard on San Pablo, causing flooding, and that she ran off. The reporting party said someone may have stopped her. She was arrested on suspicion of petty theft and damage by vandalism of $400 or more.

Suspicious person – At 3:01 a.m., police received a report of a heavy-set transient man outside of Fonda at Curtis and Solano trying to trip the reporting party as he passed by. It was the fourth time this has happened, the reporting party said. Disposition: Responsible/s advised on complaint, will correct situation. 

Juveniles throwing rocks at cars – At 5:37 p.m., a man reported two juvenile males on San Gabriel throwing rocks at vehicles for the past several minutes. Disposition: Log note only.

Dead possum in road – At 10:30 p.m., police logged a report of a deceased possum in the middle of the roadway at Solano and Madison. Disposition: Log note only.
