Police Calls: 6 Auto Burglaries in 2 Days, Costly Dog Bite, Females Fight

The Albany police log for May 28-29 includes six burglaries of vehicles, a late-night arrest of a bicyclist, an hour-long verbal/physical dust-up between two females, vandalism to the door of Solano Ave. florist and a man yelling at store customers.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Wednesday, May 29

Bicyclist arrested 
– At 12:40 a.m., police stopped a bicyclist at Buchanan and Pierce. Disposition: Arrest made.

Auto burglary – At 7:23 a.m., police received a report of petty theft from a vehicle on Curtis. Disposition: Case report taken.

Dog bites dog, vet bill grows – At 1:51 p.m., a reporting party in the police lobby said the reporting party's dog was bitten by another dog about 8:30 the previous night at San Carlos and Portland. The reporting party knows where the owner lives but not the owner's name. The veterinarian's bill is increasing the reporting party would like the other person to pay. Disposition: Case report taken.

Large bee swarm in Berkeley – At 4:44 p.m., police received a 911 call about a large swarm of bees at the BART station in Berkeley. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Non-injury accident, city property damaged – At 7:07 p.m., police received a report of non-injury accident involving an "auto vs. City prop." at Buchanan and Madison. Disposition: Case report taken.

2 autos burglarized – At 7:11 p.m. and at 7:31 p.m., police logged reports of two vehicles  burglarized at Target, a black Volvo and a Toyota Corolla. Disposition: Case report taken.

Thursday, May 30

Auto burglary – At 7:05 a.m., a reporting party told police that she saw on her way to work that a neighbor's vehicle parked in a carport on Stannage had been burglarized. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary – At 7:17 a.m., police received a report of burglary of a vehicle in parking garage on Brighton. Disposition: Case report taken.

Burglary – At 7:48 a.m., police logged a case of burglary on Brighton. Disposition: Case report taken.

Business' front-door glass broken – At 8:15 a.m., police received a report that the front-door glass of La Vie en Rose on Solano was broken. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hour-long fight between 2 females – At 9:06 a.m., police received a report that two females, possibly a mother and daughter, had been engaged in a physical/verbal altercation for more than an hour. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

GPS taken from auto – At 10:39 a.m., police received a report of a GPS taken from a vehicle on Cornell between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Access was gained via a window. Disposition: Case report taken.

ID theft – At 11:10 a.m., a person in the police lobby reported a case of identity theft with applications and/or changes involving 9-10 companies. Disposition: Case report taken.

Tires punctured – At 12:42 p.m. a person reported a flat tire for the second time in three days on Kains, saying that the tires were punctured both times. Disposition: Log note only.

Man yelling at customers – At 6:06 p.m., police received a report of a man yelling at customers at the Am/Pm on San Pablo. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.
