Police Calls: Pedestrian Injured, Cars Sideswiped, Stolen Bike and Violin

The Albany police log for April 10-11 includes a pedestrian injured by an auto at Solano and Cornell, a violin stolen at the Teen Center, a bike stolen at Marin Elementary School, and several cars sideswiped in front of Albany High.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Wednesday, April 10

Bike stolen at Marin School – About 8:45 a.m., a bike was taken at Marin Elementary School.

Numerous cars sideswiped – At 10:46 a.m., an officer reported numerous sideswiped cars in front of Albany High School.

Car damaged by water balloon – At 4:08 p.m, police received a report of a water balloon from a white pickup with 4-5 juveniles in the bed striking a dark green Infiniti I30 in the vicinity of Albany Middle School and Masonic and Brighton. The Infiniti owner said he has damage to his car.

Violin stolen at Teen Center – At 5:54 p.m., police received a report of a student's violin stolen from the Teen Center on Portland.

Pedestrian injured – At 6:51 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle-vs.-pedestrian accident at Solano and Cornell. (Editor's note: Albany Fire Department Captain Dustyn Wiggins told Patch that the fire department found a woman lying conscious on the ground in front of a vehicle and suffering from a trauma injury. She was transported to Highland Hospital in Oakland, he said.)

Hit and run – At 11:26 p.m., police received a report of a parked vehicle being hit about 8:10 p.m. by large van on Kains. The reporting party said he left a note on the damaged vehicle with his information and information about the van.

Thursday, April 11

Drunk or disorderly arrest(s) – The police call log says that police arrested a man who had been reported at 8:21 a.m. sitting on the sidewalk on Cornell across from the playground on suspicion of violating section 647(f) of the state Penal Code, being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The police arrest log says police arrested a Richmond male in the 1100 block of Marin at 8:30 a.m. on the same violation.

Bike theft attempt again – At 10:09 a.m., a woman on Marin reported that two attempts have now been made to steal a bike locked to a cleaning sign for two weeks in front of her property. (Editor's note: This is apparently the same bike reported in a previous police log.) 

Residential burglary – At 11:56 a.m., police received a report of a back door broken open on Key Route with nothing stolen. The alarm was on when the father of the reporting party arrived home an hour earlier.

Bogus concert tickets – At 4:39 p.m., a person reported buying $240 in concert tickets on Solano from another person on Craigslist that turned out to be no good. The reporting party has the license plate number and phone number of the other party. Disposition: Civil matter – parties advised.

Robbery – At 6:15 p.m., police received a report of a strongarm robbery of an iPhone from the reporting party's girlfriend by a man in his late 20s at the del Norte BART station in El Cerrito about 45 minutes ago. GPS was showing the phone on Eastshore in Albany at the time the theft was reported. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Non-injury accident – At 6:19 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident involving a silver Volkswagon Jetta and a silver Nissan Xterra at Memorial Park on Portland near the playground area. 

Vehicle theft – At 7:54 p.m., a person reported that car of the person's sister is missing from Evelyn. Disposition: Log note only.

Residential burglary – At 11:32 p.m., police received a report of burglary on Dartmouth that occurred in the past four days. The reporting party was unsure of the loss.
