Police Calls: Adams Assault, Stolen Catalytic Converter, "Extremely Loud" Bass, Mysterious Earring, Check Forgery

JULY 26

9:27 a.m. A who she believed followed her from the BART station. Arrest made.

12:57 p.m. Someone reported a burglary in the 1100 block of Santa Fe Avenue after seeing two people walk out from behind his or her neighbor's home. A third person was waiting for them in a dark sedan that left southbound toward Gilman Street. Case report taken.

5:14 p.m. Someone damaged the laundry machines at Albany View Apartments in the 700 block of Calhoun Street while taking coins from them. Case report taken.

8:49 p.m. Someone stole a scooter from in front of a home in the 700 block of Cornell Avenue. The 12- to 15-year-old boy, described as black, was wearing dark shorts and a light-colored T-shirt; he was seen in the area just before the theft. Case report taken.

JULY 27

8:36 a.m. Someone stole several items from a vehicle on Pomona Avenue during the night. Case report taken.

8:55 a.m. Someone rifled through a vehicle during the night on Evelyn Avenue, but nothing was taken. Log note only.

9:20 a.m. The school director reported that someone appeared to have slept overnight in the garden greenhouse at . Some items were left behind. Miscellaneous public service provided.

11:19 a.m. Police in connection with the theft of more than 22 firearms from a home on Albany Hill. 

7:25 p.m. Someone smashed in the window of a car at and stole a briefcase, bag and its contents. Case report taken.

JULY 28

7:44 a.m. Someone smashed the window of a vehicle on Masonic and Solano avenues. Case report taken.

10:55 a.m. Someone reported an abandoned vehicle at Washington and Cleveland avenues: "Truck tires becoming flat, full of trash that is odiferous and wet, blocking view of traffic..." Log note only.

JULY 29

12:58 a.m. Someone was sent to the emergency room after being injured by a family member on Pierce Street. Case report taken. (No further information was available from the Albany Police Department.)

1:21 a.m. Police arrested Timothy Wayne Nelson of Concord after finding him sleeping in his vehicle on Taft Avenue. Nelson had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Concord for failure to appear in court and possession of narcotics. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in downtown Oakland.

1:54 a.m Police arrested Marvin Shepherd of Richmond on suspicion of driving under the influence at San Pablo and Brighton avenues. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility.

5:53 a.m. Someone stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle on Curtis Street. Case report taken.

JULY 30

2:09 a.m. Police arrested Andre Vernon of Pinole on suspicion of driving under the influence near I-80 and Buchanan Street. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility.

7:17 a.m. Someone was playing "extremely loud bass guitar" with the window open on Brighton. Responsibles advised of complaint, will correct the situation.

1:41 p.m. Someone spotted an "unsecured refrigerator" in front of a bus stop. Referred to outside agency.

6:53 p.m. A cyclist was while trying to cross westbound traffic. The cyclist was taken to the hospital and was "lucky to be alive," police said.

10:59 p.m. A boy was punched at a party on Garfield Avenue; the matter was still under investigation earlier this week, but both subjects were said to be minors. Case report taken.

JULY 31

3:02 a.m. Someone vandalized a car in the 500 block of Key Route Boulevard, causing more than $400 worth of damage. Case report taken.

10:17 a.m. Someone stole a black Raleigh bike from the front porch of a home in the 800 block of Cornell. Case report taken.

10:38 a.m. Someone found a white bike at Stannage and Solano avenues. It was lying in the bushes near an apartment building. Log note only. 

11:25 a.m. A mother brought her son into the Police Department asking that an officer "speak to her son about an earring that doesn't belong to him." Log note only.

AUG. 1

2:09 a.m. Police were called to the to talk with a sleeping homeless man who had gone into the bathroom and refused to leave. Miscellaneous violation, warning given.

12:29 p.m. Someone stole a stereo and change out of a car on Curtis. Log note only. 

2:30 p.m. received a forged check. Case report taken.
