Police Calls: Arrest After Man Reported on Bike with Gun; Upset Wife

The Albany police logs for July 19 includes the arrest of a transient on multiple counts following a report of a man on a bicycle with a gun, a wife upset with her husband over clothing, yet another case of identity theft and an injured raccoon.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, July 19

Vehicle rifled through – At 8:15 a.m., police received a report of an unlocked vehicle that had been rifled through with no loss on Pomona. Disposition: Log note only.

Vehicle rifled through – At 8:16 a.m., police received a report of an unlocked vehicle that had been rifled through with no loss on Portland. Disposition: Log note only.

Wife upset with husband over clothing
– At 10:33 a.m., police received a report of an elderly female being upset with her elderly husband over clothing on Cornell. Disposition: Log note only.

Bad check
– At 12:51 p.m., police logged a report that some got hold of an accounts payable check. The reporting party has a copy. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft
– At 12:52 p.m., police logged a petty theft report that involved "one detained by LT" on San Pablo. Disposition: Case report taken.

Arrest on multiple counts – At 3:07 p.m., police arrested a transient man at 1236 Cornell Ave. on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine or other controlled substance, violation of parole and resisting an officer. The arrest followed a 2:58 p.m. suspicious person report of man about 40 years old in a black overcoat on a bike with a silver handgun last seen on Cornell heading toward Berkeley.

Identity theft – At 4:10 p.m., police received an identity theft report from a reporting party who received a collection notice from Comcast. Disposition: Case report taken.

Injured raccoon – At 8:50 p.m., police received a report of an injured raccoon in the middle of the street at Solano and Tulare heading east. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.
