Police Calls: Arrests for Assault on Parking Officer & Burglary; Rude Pot Smokers

The Albany police log for April 1-2 includes arrests for assaulting a parking control officer and for burglary, thefts of an iPhone and a stroller, disrespectful juvenile marijuana smokers and an auto that rolled over after a hit and run.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Monday, April 1

Assault on parking control officer – A male transient was arrested at 1051 San Pablo Ave. at 9:27 a.m. on suspicion of assaulting a parking control officer and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

BevMo theft – At 10:21 a.m., a theft was reported at Beverages & More on San Pablo Avenue.

Burglary arrest – A Berkeley man was arrested at 10:25 a.m at 836 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of burglary.

Identity theft – A woman on Adams reported that someone previously withdrew funds from her back account is now using her Social Security number to file a tax return. Disposition: Log note only.

Disrespectful pot smokers – At 3:38 p.m., police received a report of a couple of male juveniles smoking marijuana at Memorial Park and using foul language in front of small children. A mother was asking them to stop but the juveniles would not cooperate and were being disrespectful. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Non-injury accident – A non-injury vehicle accident involved a black Honda and a black Subaru was reported at 4:41 p.m. on Cornell.

Tuesday, April 2

Hit and run? – A possible hit and run accident was reported on Brighton at 2:13 a.m. with the other vehicle's bumper on the ground.

Hit and run with rollover – A report entered onto the log at 5:45 a.m. says a vehicle involved in a non-injury, hit and run accident at Brighton and Talbot was impounded by the CHP after it rolled over on Highway 13. The driver escaped.

Stroller stolen from patio  – A man reported a stroller taken from the front patio on Sante Fe over the weekend. It was a red UPPAbaby Cruz with a black handle and black mesh bag.

Non-injury accident – A non-injury vehicle accident at the Albany Hill Mini Mart on San Pablo was reported at 3:46 p.m.

Identity theft – A person in the police station reported a case of identity theft on Adams.

iPhone theft at Middle School – At 7:55 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported that the iPhone of the person's daughter was taken at Albany Middle School during the day.
