Police Calls: Arrests Involving Disabled Placard, Collapsing on Sidewalk, DUI

The Albany police log for Friday, March 29, includes arrests for alleged illegal use of a disabled person placard, being drunk or disorderly in public and driving under the influence. Reported thefts included a purse, cellphone and DVD.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Friday, March 29

DUI Arrest – At 12:09 a.m., police arrested a male from Benicia at the end of Buchanan on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08 percent or more.

Citation issued – Police issued a citation for being excessively under the influence or disorderly in public after a person parked in front of store at Masonic and Washington reported at 1:30 a.m. that a man was banging on his vehicle.

Auto burglary – At 11:47 a.m., a person reported a purse taken from a vehicle on Buchanan next to the Albany Bulb about 7 p.m. on March 27 while on vacation. There was no damage to the vehicle, which may have been unlocked.

Hit and run with damage – At 12:56 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run with damage at Solano and San Pablo near Subway.

Non-injury accident – At 1:20 p.m., a non-injury accident involving a Camry and an Elantra was reported at San Pablo and Solano.

Cellphone stolen on BART – At 2:51 p.m., a person at the police station reported a cellphone stolen on BART 2-3 weeks ago. The person has information that the thief lives in Emeryville. Disposition: Referred to an outside agency.

DVD theft – At 5:36 p.m., police received a report of a theft of a DVD by a transient at Max's on San Pablo. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Disabled placard arrest – At 7:05 p.m., police arrested a Richmond female at 1057 Eastshore Highway on suspicion of illegal use of a disabled person placard.

Drunk and disorderly arrest – At 11:26 p.m., police received a report of an elderly man who fell in front of Grazzy Burgers. The man, an Albany resident, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence in public to such a degree that he was unable to care for his or her own safety or the safety of others or was obstructing a public right of way.
