Police Calls: Assault at Albany Bulb, Youth Doing Drugs, Men Taking Recycling

The Albany police call log for July 10-11 includes an assault at Albany Bulb, guys following a resident home offering to fix her bumper, rude teens smoking pot at Cornell School, a woman using bad language at Metro PCS and rifling of recycling bins.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wedneday, July 10

Suspicious bumper fixers – At 11:21 a.m., police received a call from a resident who was followed home from El Cerrito Plaza by guys offering to fix her bumper. Disposition: Case report taken.

Rude, pot-smoking teens at Cornell School – At 2:24 p.m., police received a complaint of four male teens, ages 16-18, smoking approximately six joints and being rude and going northbound on Cornell at Cornell Elementary School. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Auto burglary? – At 3:36 p.m., police received a report of a glove box having been gone through in a vehicle on Neilson. It was unknown how entry was gained and whether there was any loss. Disposition: Log note only.

Woman using bad language – At 4:03 p.m., police received a complaint of a woman in a pink hoodie using bad language inside Metro PCS on San Pablo. She was asked to leave earlier today. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

Auto burglary – At 4:29 p.m., police received a report of phone taken from a vehicle at Target. Disposition: Log note only.

Rifling through recycling bins – At 5:41 p.m., police received a complaint of an older man carrying a large garbage bag going south on Cerrito and going through recycling bins. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Credit card fraud – At 8:42 p.m., police received a report of two fraudulent charges totally about $500 on a credit card. Disposition: Case report taken.

Thursday, July 11

Kids doing drugs at Cornell School – At 12:21 a.m., police received a report of kids doing drugs behind the gym at Cornell Elementary School on Talbot. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Juveniles throwing trash cans – At 1:32 a.m., police received a complaint of two juveniles throwing trash cans around at Washington and Masonic. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Man taking recycling – At 8:29 a.m., police received a report of a man in a tan jacket and tan pants with a cart taking recycling on Madison. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

iPhone returned with switched parts – At 10:57 a.m., police received a theft report that an iPhone was returned to Payless Computer with parts that had been switched. Disposition: Case report taken.

Theft by caretakers – At 11:58 a.m., police received a call from a person on Pomona reporting that caretakers had been taking cash since May 21. The reporting party asked to be contacted by police. Disposition: Log note only.

Assault at Albany Bulb – At 3:34 p.m., police were contacted by someone who reported being punched in the face and back of the head by a man at the Albany Bulb between 12:15-1:15 p.m. The reporting party's cell phone died. The assailant was described as Hispanic with curly wavy hair and a scar on the lefthand side of his bottom lip, wearing a baseball cap, dark shirt and shorts and carrying a gray backpack. Reporting party would like to be contacted by police. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary – At 4:45 p.m., police logged an auto burglary by three males in a dark green older model sedan with tinted windows last seen on Ramona heading toward Memorial Park from Toy Go Round on Solano. Disposition: Follow-up complete.
