Police Calls: Battery at Albany High, Crimes at Target, Dog Bite

The Albany police logs for Nov. 13-14 include a female student assaulted at Albany High, counterfeit $50 bills passed at Target, a dog bite in a front yard, a bike stolen from a bike cage at Albany Middle School and a vandalized sculpture.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Nov. 13

911 call, teacher vs. student – At 9:36 a.m., police received a 911 call reporting "teacher vs. student" at Harding Elementary School in El Cerrito. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Attempted burglary – At 12:04 p.m., police received a report of an attempted burglary overnight on Jackson. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K. (Editor's note: the log entry doesn't indicate what kind of attempted burglary was reported.)

Dog bite in front yard – At 2:58 p.m., police received a report from the Student Health Center at UC Berkeley of a dog bite in the front yard of a residence on Santa Fe last Friday. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Non-injury accident – At 3:05 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported an accident that happened on Buchanan on Nov. 9. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Possibly intoxicated man rifling recycling in driveway – At 3:37 p.m., police received a report of a possibly intoxicated older man going through recyclables and garbage in a resident's driveway and dropping bottles on the ground. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Counterfeit $50 bills at Target – At 6:31 p.m., police received a report that a female 20 minutes earlier bought merchandise with two fictitious $50 bills. Disposition: Case report taken.

Outstanding warrant  – At 11:50 p.m., police arrested a 43-year-old Vallejo man at San Pablo and Solano on an outstanding warrant. The arrest followed a 11:23 p.m report of a "physical" incident at Club Mallard involving a subject who departed in a silver SUV.

Thursday, Nov. 14

Man taking recycling – At 7:02 a.m., police received a report of a man in a leather jacket with a bag taking recycling at Cleveland and Johnson. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Battery at Albany High – At 11:47 a.m., police received a report of a battery at Albany High, involving a female victim of an assault. The Albany Fire Department was on scene to provide medical assistance. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: The incident involved a male and female student, with a minor injury caused to the female student, according to Albany Police Detective Sgt. Art Pasoglingan. She was not transported to a medical facility for treatment, and no arrests were made, he said.)

Sculpture vandalized – At 2:01 p.m., police received a report of a metal sculpture that was damaged sometime during the night at a dentist office on San Pablo. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Outstanding warrant  – At 4:10 p.m., police arrested a 44-year-old Berkeley man at San Pablo and Solano on an outstanding warrant.

Mountain bike taken at Middle School – At 6:01 p.m., police received a report of a gray Roadmaster mountain bike worth $100 with a basket and bike rack worth $50 taken from a bike cage at Albany Middle School. The bike has orange and white lettering. Disposition: Case report taken.

Identity theft – At 8:17 p.m., police received a report of identity theft in which a 2012 tax return was filed under the reporting party's name and in which the reporting party's Kaiser ID was used. Disposition: Case report taken.

Burglary, resisting an officer arrest – At 10:19 p.m., police arrested 66-year-old male transient at Target on suspicion of burglary and resisting a police officer. The arrest followed a 10 p.m. report of a man in custody for theft at Target but not in handcuffs and threatening to leave.
