Police Calls: Battery Cases, Fight Outside Bar, Loud Music

Albany police logs for Jan. 11-12 include two cases of battery – one at the Albany Bulb and one that may have involved an arrest in the vicinity of Club Mallard – plus an auto burglary, loud music complaints and a man harassing movie-goers.

The information below comes from Albany police incident and arrest logs.

Saturday, Jan. 11

Fight outside Club Mallard – At 2:11 a.m., police received a report of a physical fight in the street outside Club Mallard. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: The arrest in the next entry appears to be related to this fight.) 

Battery arrest – Police arrested 28-year-old Oakland man at Washington and Adams on suspicion of battery. (Editor's note: The arrest log does not indicate the time, but it appears to be related to the fight reported in the previous entry. Club Mallard is half a block away from Washington and Adams.)

Loud music from car at 4 a.m. – At 4:02 a.m., police received a complaint of loud music from a car stereo for the last 10 minutes on Pierce, possibly near the front of the complex. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Man harassing customers at Albany Twin – At 6:45 p.m., police received a report of a man in his 60s in a red cap standing in front of the Albany Twin cinema and harassing the customers. Disposition: Log note only.

Loud music all day – At 7:49 p.m., police received a complaint that neighbors on Madison have been playing loud music all day. The reporting party tried to talk to them, but they would not answer the door. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Keys found on Solano – At 9:27 p.m., a person left a set of keys in a ring found on Solano at the police lobby with no form or way of contacting the owner. Disposition: Log note only.

Sunday, Jan. 12

DUI arrest – Shortly after 1:50 a.m., police arrested a 40-year-old Antioch man at 540 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more. 

911 call, child with abdominal pain – At 1:50 a.m., police received a 911 call about an 8-year-old child with abdominal pain that may possibly be appendicitis. Disposition: Log note only. (Editor's note: Albany police told Patch that police learned that the child was already on the way to the hospital.)

911 call, unresponsive neighbor – At 9:44 a.m., a 911 caller told police that the caller hasn't talked to a neighbor on Everett in El Cerrito for a couple of days. The neighbor may be unconscious or passed away. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Auto burglary – At 6:24 p.m., police received a report of a cold auto burglary on Masonic in which a GPS was taken. Disposition: Case report taken.

Battery at Albany Bulb – At 8:20 p.m., a person at the Albany Bulb reported being jump by three or four attackers. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: This battery was reported in a Jan. 14 Patch article, "2 Albany Bulb Residents Assaulted, Sent to Hospital.")
