Police Calls: Bike & Auto Stolen, Tires Punctured, Runaway 12–Year-Old

The Albany police logs for July 13-14 include a stolen vehicle, a bike taken on Solano, arrests for graffiti and DUI, pickpocketing in Athens, a fire on Albany Hill, a runaway grandson, a noisy party and trophies found on Cougar Field.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, July 13

DUI arrest – At 2:29 a.m., police arrested a male Oakland field technician at Castro and San Pablo on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Vehicle stolen – At 12:03 p.m., police received a report from a person saying her vehicle, which was being used by her boyfriend at the time, was stolen near High and International in Oakland about 6:15 a.m. and that she is unable to go to Oakland to report it. She received a call about 30 minutes ago saying the vehicle is in a chop shop and will tell her the location for $300. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Pickpocketed in Athens – At 2:33 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported that the reporting party was pickpocketed somewhere in Athens the previous Saturday. Disposition: Log note only.

Fire on Albany Hill – At 3:32 p.m., police received a call reporting a log on fire, with orange flames and smoke, next to brush near the top of Albany Hill. Disposition: Log note only.

Tire punctured – At 4:29 p.m., police received a report from a person who today discovered that a tire was punctured at Marin and Ramona on July 10. Disposition: Case report taken.

Sunday, July 14

Graffiti arrest – At 12:34 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity on Cleveland with three subjects all in dark clothing tagging the south wall of Albany Steel Inc. Disposition: Arrest made.

Noisy party – At 2:41 a.m., police received a complaint of noisy party tonight and last night on Madison. The residents are out of town, and the partiers may be friends of their kids. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Person hiding in alley – At 3:34 p.m., police received a report of male, possibly 18 or 19 years old, hiding in an alleyway off Key Route. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Two tires punctured – At 3:54 p.m., police received a report of two tires punctured last night on Solano. Disposition: Log note only.

Bike stolen – At 6:17 p.m., police received a report of a mint-colored bike, with a blue milk crate and a purple scarf on the seat, taken on Washington. Disposition: Log note only.

Suspicious pair with bolt-cutters – At 6:23 p.m., police received a report of two men with bolt-cutters near bikes at Albany beach. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Runaway grandson – At 7:38 p.m., an El Cerrito resident person in the Albany police lobby reported that the reporting party's 12-year-old grandson ran away 45 minutes earlier from King Tsin on Solano in Berkeley. The boy has blue eyes and was wearing a sweatshirt and plaid shorts, last seen going toward Marin on foot. Disposition: Log note only.

Recovered stolen vehicle – At 8:21 p.m., police logged a report of a vehicle being found on Stannage in the parking spot of the reporting party, who had been gone for a week. It looked like it had been rummaged through. Disposition: Case report taken.

Found trophies on Cougar Field – At 11:39 p.m., a person who had been jogging reported seeing several large trophies near the goalpost near the gate at Cougar Field. Disposition: Log note only.
