Police Calls: Burglar in Residence, Fawn Hit by Auto, Fruit & Veggies Stolen from Yard

The Albany police logs for Oct. 30-31 include a burglar reported inside a residence, a fawn in the street after being hit by an auto, a bicyclist arrested for metal knuckles, a yelling man in black and sewer problems at the police station.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Oct. 30

Metal knuckles arrest 
– At 5:15 a.m., police arrested a 30-year-old transient from Richmond at Buchanan and Pierce on suspicion of possessing or dealing in metal knuckles. The arrest followed a 5:08 a.m. report of an officer-initiated bicycle stop on Buchanan.

Auto burglary – At 7:39 a.m., police received a report of a cold auto burglary on Talbot. Disposition: Case report taken.

Identity theft – At 10:16 a.m., police received a report that someone is using the reporting party's identity out of Florida in an online scam. The reporting party will come by after work. Disposition: Log note only.

Burglar in residence – At 10:26 a.m., police received a report that an adult male burglar was inside the reporting party's residence on Jackson now. Disposition: Case report taken.

Fruit, vegetables stolen from backyard – At 5:27 p.m., police received a report of fruit and vegetables stolen from a backyard on Ventura. The reporting party has noticed this on two prior occasions. Disposition: Log note only.

Sewer problem at Police Department – At 7:33 p.m., police logged a report of a possible sewer backup in the police department locker rooms. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Bowling bag stolen at Albany Bowl – At 9:58 p.m., police received a report of a bowling bag stolen at Albany Bowl by a group that is still inside the bowling alley. Security is standing by. Disposition: Case report taken.

Thursday, Oct. 31

Burglary alert from El Cerrito police 
– At 2:42 a.m., police logged a report of a burglary at Behrens and C streets from El Cerrito police, who wanted Albany police to keep an eye out for suspicious persons in the area. It was unknown whether it was an auto or residential burglary. Disposition: Log note only.

Couple taking recyclables – At 7:26 a.m., police received a report of a man and woman taking recyclables on Madison. The woman might be pushing a baby stroller or similar item. When the reporting party asked them not to take recyclables, they laughed at her. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Drunk/disorderly arrest – At 10:57 a.m., police received a report of an intoxicated man in his 50s wearing a gray shirt holding onto a pole west of Albany Middle School near the BART path at Masonic and Brighton. Disposition: Arrest made.

Yelling, angry man all in black – At 11:41 a.m., police received a report of a man in his 40s who appeared angry and was yelling at Solano and Adams. He was dressed all in black and carrying a large bag. He was on the reporting party's porch and became angry when told to leave. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Fawn hit by vehicle – At 2:10 p.m., police received a report of a fawn that was hit by a vehicle and is in the middle of the street at Solano and Curtis. Disposition: Log note only. 

Non-injury accident – At 5:16 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident at San Pablo and Castro involving a 4-wheel drive SUV from a mechanic's shop that went south on San Pablo to westbound Castro. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Loud band on Key Route – At 6:29 p.m., police received a complaint of a band playing music loudly at a home on Key Route. The reporting party is not sure of the address, but it's on the east side of the street. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.
