Police Calls: Burglars Found in Home, Cornell Bullying, Fighting at Albany Bowl

The Albany police log for April 22-23 includes a woman who came home to find two men burglarizing her home, two boys bullied at Cornell Elementary School, fighting at Albany Bowl and another swarm of bees.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Monday, April 22

Burglars found in home – At 9:53 a.m., a woman reported finding two men inside her residence on Hillside when she returned. Disposition: Case report taken.

Residential burglary attempt – At 2:35 p.m., police received a report of an attempted residential residential burglary sometime the previous on Hillside. There were pry marks on the door.

Annoying scam calls – A 5 p.m., a woman on Stannage reported that she has been receiving scamming phone calls and that she disconnected her phone. Dispostion: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – A non-injury accident involving a white Nissan Versa and a silver Acura was reported at 5:08 p.m. at Buchanan and Eastshore.

Suspicious teen party – At 3:41 p.m., police received a report of a lot of teens having a party on Cornell where an adult had just arrived in the blue vehicle, parked the wrong way and received cheers from the teens. The party "picked up." The adult possibly brought back beer or drugs. The anonymous reporting party smelled pot. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Lost wallet – At 4:08 p.m., a woman reported that on April 20, she lost her tan billfold/wallet containing various cards, an old ID and about $30 in cash in the Target parking lot.

Non-injury accident – At 6:43 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury vehicle-vs.-lightpole accident on Solano.

Tuesday, April 23

Auto burglary/vandalism – At 5:51 a.m., police received a report of thre vehicles vandalized in garages 1 and 3 on Pierce. A rear window on the driver's side was broken on a gray Honda Fit. A rear window was broken on a gray Nissan Altima. And a small driver's side window was broken on the white Nissan Altima.

Auto burglary – At 11:18 a.m., police received a report of auto burglary at the Albany bulb involving a vehicle with smashed window and the trunk open. 

Bee swarm – At 11:28 a.m., police received a report a large swarm of bees in the middle of the street at Nielson and Sonoma. The reporting party was concerned about children getting out of school in the area. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to an outside agency.

Bullying at Cornell – At 12:39 p.m., police received a report that two little boys were being bullied and then got to the crossing guard, with whom they felt safe. The reporting party wanted to know if Albany has an anti-bullying program. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

High school gun threat – At 12:45 p.m., police received a report of an El Cerrito High School student threatening an Albany High School student on Facebook saying he has a gun and would bring it to Albany High.

Injury accident – At 8:33 p.m., police logged an accident involving two vehicles at Buchanan and San Pablo that resulted in minor injuries. No ambulance was desired. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Forgery, bad check at target – At 9:57 p.m., police received a report of forgery by a man and bad check passed by a woman who apparently were together. No description was available of their vehicle.

Fighting at Albany Bowl – At 10:41 p.m., police received a report two fights at Albany Bowl, one involving females and an attempted assault with a vehicle and the other involving chairs being thrown inside. Dispostion: Case report taken. [Editor's note: Albany police told Patch that there was one fight involving a male and a female and another involving the female and another female and that some objects were thrown. The incident, including the attempted assault with a vehicle, remains under investigation, police said.
