Police Calls: Camper Arrested, Truck Stolen, Kids Playing in Traffic

The Albany police logs for Sept. 21-22 include a man arrested for camping at Albany Hill, a drunk/disorderly arrest of a man who tried to enter a residence, an arrest at BevMo, a stolen truck, kids playing in traffic and a dog-on-a-lawn dispute.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Sept. 21

Albany Bulb-related chalking of sidewalk – At 8:29 a.m., police received a report of four males writing things with sidewalk chalk about Albany Bulb at Solano and Cornell, including an outline of one of them lying on the ground. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Drug paraphernalia, outstanding warrant arrest 
– At 1:53 p.m., police arrested a 71-year-old Oakland man at Beverages and More on San Pablo Avenue on suspicion of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant.

Camping arrest – At 4:57 p.m., police arrested a 50-year-old Berkeley man at Albany Hill Park on suspicion of violating the city's no-camping ordinance.

Kids running in and out of traffic – At 5:57 p.m., police received a report of kids playing running in and out of traffic on Evelyn. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Male lying in street – At 10:43 p.m., police received a report of a male about 18-20 years old who was lying in the middle of the street on Key Route and is now on the sidewalk hanging onto a light pole. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Sunday, Sept. 22

2 auto burglaries on Key Route – At 10:24 a.m., police logged a report of two vehicles burglarized sometime overnight on Key Route. Disposition: Case report taken.

Driver possibly threatening cyclist – At 11:39 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle honking at a bicyclist and driving erratically near the bicyclist on Buchanan at the Buchanan Interchange at I-80. The vehicle departed onto the freeway. The reporting party was calling to have a record of the incident. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time. 

Dog-on-lawn dispute
– At 12:46 p.m., police received a disturbance-of-the-peace report from a person who was walking her dog, which was standing on a resident's lawn. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

Drunk/disorderly arrest 
– At 2:23 p.m., police arrested a 28-year-old Vallejo man in the 900 block of Stannage on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The arrest followed a 911 call at 2:13 p.m. from a resident on Stannage reporting that a bald man wearing earrings tried to enter her residence, then sat on the front stoop and then was trying to enter her residence again.

Arrest at BevMo with prior convictions – At 3:57 p.m., police arrested a 42-year-old El Sobrante man at Beverages and More on San Pablo and booked him on Section 666 of the state Penal Code, which concerns crimes committed with prior convictions. The arrest followed a 3:41 p.m. report of petty theft at the store wit the subject still present.

Stolen truck– At 5:27 p.m., police received a report of a truck stolen on Neilson. The reporting party arrived home to find it had been taken. Disposition: Case report taken.

Injury accident – At 6:52 p.m., police logged a report two Volkswagen Jettas, one silver and one black, involved in an injury accident at Solano and Masonic. Disposition: Case report taken.
