Police Calls: Car on Fire, Stranger Enters Home, Injured Crow, More Loud Music

The Albany police log for June 24-25 includes a stranger entering a residence, liquor theft at Safeway, an injured crow, a car fire, two cases of identity theft, a daughter not answering her cell phone, and a man urinating in a parking lot.

Monday, June 24

Liquor stolen at Safeway – At 3:03 a.m., police received a call of a white male adult in a sweat suit taking a bottle of liquor from Safeway on Solano and taking off in a vehicle with a black male adult driver. The vehicle was a gray four-door Honda or Toyota with the front passenger hubcap missing. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Constant loud music – At 6:32 a.m., police received a complaint from a female on Kains who has a constant problem with her neighbor playing loud music. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Locked out of car 911 call – At 9:02 a.m., police received a 911 call from a female who locked her keys inside the car along with her purse. The police advised her that they no longer offer that service and she said she would call AAA. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Identity theft – At 9:37 a.m., police received a call about an identity theft from someone on Jackson. The credit cards are still in the reporting party’s possession but were used within weeks of each other. Disposition: Case report taken.

Unknown man enters residence – At 10:52 a.m., police received a report that an unknown man entered the residence 5-10 minutes earlier. The front door was unlocked and kitchen window opened and screen removed. The man was described as black, in his thirties with a large build, short braided hair, glasses, white shirt, pink backpack, and black fingerless gloves. Disposition: Case report taken.

Raised planters stolen – At 1:26 p.m., police received a report that raised planters that the city staff was building were stolen from the yard on Cleveland. Disposition: Log note only.

Identity theft – At 2:06 p.m., police received another report of an identity theft from someone on Talbot. Disposition: Log note only.

Fraudulent check – At 3:19 p.m., police received a report from a person on Masonic Avenue of a fraudulent check, which came from a stolen backpack from a previous Albany Police Department case on June 13. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Urinating in parking lot – At 3:30 p.m., police received a call that a transient male in dark blue/black shirt, jeans, and white tennis shoes drank a beer then urinated in a parking lot on San Pablo Avenue. Twenty minutes prior to the call, the same transient male was reported to be curled up in a fetal position for about an hour. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Shaking man – At 7:27 p.m., police received a report that at Round Table Pizza on San Pablo Avenue, a man with long dark hair, jeans, and jacket was lying next to the doors shaking. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Arrest for outside agency warrant – At 11:16 p.m., police arrested of an Oakland female employed as a driver on an outstanding SFPD warrant. The arrest took place in the 1000 block of San Pablo.

Tuesday, June 25

Daughter not answering phone – At 12:43 a.m., police received a call about a 17-year-old daughter that left the house on Jackson to go to a friend’s house but was not picking up her cell phone. She was last seen about 7 p.m. and had left the house after an argument with her mom. The reporting party did not want to file a missing person report at this time, but only wanted to have a record of the incident. Disposition: Log note only.

Suspicious vehicle – At 12:54 a.m., police received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Solano/San Pablo. The vehicle was a late ‘70s station wagon in a dark color with wood paneling on the side, and there was a person sitting inside for over an hour. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Crow trouble – At 9:27 a.m., police received a call from reporting an injured crow in the bushes at Sugata Restaurant on Solano Avenue and other crows flying close to pedestrians. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.

Car on fire – At 10:15 a.m., police received a call about a car on fire on Pierce. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Hit and run – At 11:38 a.m., police received a call about a hit and run accident outside of a hair salon on San Pablo. The customer’s vehicle was parked when hit. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Truck backs into car – At 6:29 p.m., police received a 911 call from a person whose car got backed into by a truck at Pik n Pak liquors at San Pablo and Central (in El Cerrito). Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Public violence – At 7:06 p.m., police received a 911 call from someone who witnessed two people hitting each other in the University Village. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.
