Police Calls: Car Stolen, Hit-and-Runs, Stick Tossed at Middle Schooler

The Albany police log for April 3-4 includes a car that was stolen and another stolen car that was found, two hit-and-run accidents, two auto burglaries, aggressive panhandlers, and walking cane tossed at a Middle School student.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Wednesday, April 3

Auto burglary – At 6:50 a.m., police received a report of an auto burglary that happened overnight on Gateview. The rear passenger window was broken and a work bag was stolen.

Recovered stolen vehicle – A vehicle reported stolen by CHP Oakland was found at Cleveland and Washington. The wing window and side mirror were damaged and the glove box open. It was in the area a few days.

Hit and run with damage – At 2:22 p.m., police received a report of hit and run that occurred on Pierce either on April 25 or April 26. A side view mirror was damaged. No information was available on the suspect vehicle.

Accident with injury – At 5:38 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle accident at San Pablo and Gilman. A 15-year-old son had neck pain.

Hit and run with damage – At 6:20 p.m., police received a report of hit and run from a person in a blue Ford Escape at the Arco at San Pablo and Marin. The suspect vehicle was last seen northbound on San Pablo.

Aggressive panhandlers – About 8:30 p.m., police issued a warning to three aggressive panhandlers at Arco.

Thursday, April 4

Stolen vehicle – At 6:59 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle theft that had just occurred on San Pablo. A four-inch sticker on the rear of the vehicle says, "SFCS."

CVS theft – At 9:02 a.m., police received a report that cosmetics, baby formula and baby shampoo was taken from CVS on Solano. The suspect was described as a white female about 20 years old with red hair and wearing a green jacket, black top and faded blue jeans.

Auto burglary – At 12:06 p.m., police received a report of a theft from an auto that occurred March 28 on Kains. Items taken included an iPod and a computer. No damage occurred to the vehicle. The trunk may have been unlocked.

Cane tossed at Middle School student – At 6:41 p.m., a female student at the Middle School reported that a male about 18 years old in black make-up and dark clothing and carrying a walking stick at Key Route and Brighton said to her that she should stop doing something, and that when she said she wasn't doing anything, he tossed the cane at her.
