Police Calls: Car Stolen, Target Arrest, Panting Buck on Marin

The Albany police logs for Sept. 9-10 include a vehicle stolen on Buchanan, a lewd act at Albany Bulb, a burglary arrest at Target, a bike wheel stolen on Brighton and a big deer with big antlers nearly causing an accident on Marin.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Monday, Sept. 9

Stolen vehicle – At 8:11 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen during the night on Buchanan. Disposition: Case report taken.


Lewd act at Albany Bulb – At 9:10 a.m., police received a report of man masturbating at the Albany Bulb 30 minutes ago. He was in a sleeping bag with a female near the Eucalyptus trees. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Key stolen, suspicious man and woman – At 9:49 a.m., police received a report from resident on Solano that his car had been broken into a couple nights ago that this morning when he left for work, he noticed his spare apartment key missing. When he returned home 20 minutes ago, he found a car driven by a man with a woman passenger backing into his parking space. Disposition: Case report taken.

Bike wheel stolen – At 10:23 a.m., police received a report of the rear wheel of a bicycle stolen on Brighton a few days ago. Whoever took the wheel tried to take the whole bike. Disposition: Log note only.

Big buck runs across Marin – At 11:30 a.m., a large deer with a large rack ran across Marin near the Safeway, almost causing a traffic accident. He appeared tired since he was panting. Disposition: Log note only.

Identity theft – At 2:01 p.m., police received a report of identity theft. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hit and run with damage – At 7:24 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported discovering that his vehicle was hit while parked underneath the building in the parking area on Brighton this morning. The reporting party suspects the responsible party lives in the building. Disposition: Case report taken.

Incapacitated male taken to hospital – At 8:42 p.m., police received a report of male on the ground who was intoxicated or possibly on drugs. He had been walking from Marin and Ventura toward Solano followed by a relative. Disposition: Subject/s transported to hospital.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

Receiving stolen property arrest – Police arrested a 33-year-old San Francisco woman at 1001 Eastshore on suspicion of receiving stolen property. (No time is listed in the arrest log.)

Commercial burglary arrest – Police arrested a 42-year-old Richmond man at Target on suspicion of commercial burglary. (The arrest log doesn't show the time of arrest, but it may be related to an 8:38 a.m. "Burglary" and "Arrest Made" call log entry about a man with box cutters trying to walk out of Target with a jacket.)

Attempted burglary, probation violation arrest – Police arrested a 64-year-old Richmond man at Pomona and Dartmouth on suspicion of attempted burglary and violation of probation. No time was listed in the arrest log, but it appears to be connected to a 1:14 p.m. "Burglary" and "Arrest Made" call log entry and a linked 1:25 p.m. "Bicycle Traffic Stop" call log entry about concerning an older man in work-type clothing.
