Police Calls: Cyclist Injured, Purse Stolen at Jodie's, City Tree Falls on Truck

The Albany police logs for Aug. 24-25 include a cyclist injured in a truck-bike accident, five arrests, a purse snatched from the back of a chair at Jodie's restaurant, a stolen iPhone, three cases of hit and run and several auto burglaries.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Aug. 24

DUI arrest – At 12:41 a.m., police arrested a 52-year-old Albany man in the 800 block of Key Route Boulevard on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Drug paraphernalia, resisting police arrest – At 1:34 a.m., police arrested a 32-year-old Richmond man on suspicion of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a police officer. The arrest followed a "Bicycle Traffic Stop" log report at 1:14 a.m. on Washington.

DUI arrest – At 2:09 a.m., police arrested a 20-year-old Richmond man at 400 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Hit and run – At 10:25 a.m., police received a report of a cold hit and run with damage on Cerrito. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hit and run at Taco Bell – At 1 p.m., a caller reported that her company-owned car was damaged in a hit and run on the previous evening about 10 p.m. in the Taco Bell parking lot at 635 San Pablo Ave. The company car, a 2013 Toyota, received a large dent in the right rear quarter panel. The responsible vehicle was unknown, and there were no known witnesses or evidence. The caller was reporting only to have a record of the incident. Disposition: Log note only.

City tree falls on truck – A 1:12 p.m., police received a report of a truck damaged when a city tree fell on it on Dartmouth. Disposition: Case report taken.

Skateboarding in middle of street – At 4:47 p.m., an anonymous person reported that juveniles were riding down the center of Washington toward Pierce. The reporting party called back to say the juveniles are now at Solano and Polk. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Male cyclist injured in vehicle-bike accident – At 8 p.m., police received a report of a male bicyclist injured in a vehicle-vs.-bicycle accident at Solano and Carmel. The injured person was still in the roadway, conscious and with a nurse. The vehicle was a tan Ford pickup. Disposition: Case report taken.

Somewhat nonsensical caller just wants to say hello – At 10:58 p.m., a person called police and talked "somewhat nonsensically." He said he has a new address, is still living with his mother and was "just calling to say hello." Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Sunday, Aug. 25

DUI arrest – At 1:54 a.m., police arrested a 43-year-old San Francisco man, whose occupation was listed as a teacher, at Buchanan and I-80 on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Noisy group on Solano – At 2:19 a.m., police received a complaint of a noisy group of young adults – one male and four females – going west on Solano. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Vehicle intruder – At 8:42 a.m., police received a report a possibly unlocked vehicle on Talbot being entered sometime overnight. This is the third or fourth time it has occurred. Disposition: Case report taken.

Purse stolen at Jodie's restaurant – At 9:18 a.m., police received a report of purse snatched from the back of a chair at Jodie's restaurant on Masonic. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hit and run – At 9:53 a.m., police received a report of vehicle being damage sometime overnight in a hit and run. It was parked in front of the reporting party's house on Cornell. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary – At 10:13 a.m., police received a report of belongings taken from an unlocked vehicle on Evelyn the previous night. Disposition: Case report taken.

License plate stolen – At 12:17 p.m., police received a report of a front license plate taken on Spokane at an unknown time. Disposition: Case report taken.

Auto burglary – At 12:24 p.m., police received a report that a vehicle was entered sometime overnight on Evelyn. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Mother won't leave top of vehicle – At 12:37 p.m., a resident reported that the mother of his child is sitting on top of his vehicle on Stannage and refuses to move. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

Loud church music – At 4:44 p.m., police received a complaint of loud amplified music coming from a church at Marin and Talbot. The reporting party says it's weekly occurrence and would like contact. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation. 

iPhone stolen at Memorial Park – At 7:22 p.m., police received a report of the theft of an iPhone 5 at Memorial Park at about 2:20 p.m. today. Would like telephone contact and unable to respond to the police department. Disposition: Log note only.

Banned customer at Hotsy Totsy – At 9:48 p.m., police received a complaint about a 50-year-man at the Hotsy Totsy on San Pablo who had been banned. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Credit card fraud – At 10:04 p.m., police received call from a person in Seattle saying her credit card number was used by an unknown person at Max's Liquors on San Pablo earlier this evening. Disposition: Case report taken.

Drug, invalid license arrest
– At 11:12 p.m., police arrested a 47-year-old Oakland man at San Pablo and Washington on suspicion of drug possession for sale and driving on a suspended or invalid license.
