Police Calls: Drunk/Disorderly Arrests, Lots of Loudness, Hertz Customers Won't Leave

The Albany police logs for Aug. 10-11 include a stolen vehicle on Solano, drunk/discordly arrests of an 82-year-old man and 33-year-old woman, loud parties, loud BART work, loud pounding and a loud talker on the telephone.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Aug. 9

Vehicle stolen
– At 11:05 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen during the night on Solano. Disposition: Case report taken.

Arrest for unlawful presence on RR tracks 
– At 12:51 p.m., police arrested a 23-year-old Berkeley man in the 900 block of Cleveland on suspicion of unlawful presence on railroad tracks.

Theft of cart with belongings – At 12:52 p.m., a person told police that someone stole her cart with her belongings at the Albany Community Center. She will be waiting in the Community Center lobby. Disposition: Log note only.

Loud party on Cornell – At 7:24 p.m., an anonymous person reported a loud party in the hundred block of Cornell. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

911 call of in-progress beating at El Cerrito Plaza – At 8:36 p.m., police received a 911 call of a person being held down at physically assaulted at bus stop in front of El Cerrito Plaza near Pier 1. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

License plate stolen – At 8:56 p.m., police received a report of a front license plate stolen on Kains. Disposition: Case report taken.

Sunday, Aug. 10

DUI, possible hit and run – At 12:30 a.m., police received a report of a drunken driver in the hundred block of Madison causing a possible hit and run with damage. The driver was last seen going north on Madison toward eastbound on Clay.

Loud party, rowdy teens – At 12:34 a.m., police received a complaint of a loud house party and rowdy teenagers. The log entry says "occurred at Albany Cinema on Solano." Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Loud talker on phone – At 1:10 a.m., police logged a "disturbance of the peace" complaint of a person in a stairwell in a building on Evelyn having a loud phone conversation. Disposition: Log note only.

Loud BART work wakes up kids – At 3:18 a.m., police received a complaint from the vicinity of Key Route and Washington that BART workers using machinery are being loud, causing neighbors to go out and waking up kids. The reporting party says no notification was given out. Disposition: Log note only.

Loud pounding – At 4:45 a.m., police received a complaint of someone pounding on plywood on Masonic. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 12:05 p.m., police received a report of non-injury accident involving a gray 2007 Mazda 5 and gray Ford Contour. Disposition: Log note only.

Dog in vehicle with windows up – At 12:48 p.m., police received a report of a dog in an Isuzu Rodeo on Solano with the windows rolled up. Disposition: Log note only.

Hertz customers refuse to leave
– At 1:56 p.m., police received a report of seven customers in the Hertz lobby refusing to leave and that employees have to close up per Hertz policy. Disposition: Civil matter – parties advised.

Wants to turn in guns
– At 2:20 p.m., police logged a report that a person wants to turn in two guns for destruction. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man smoking cigarette
– At 7:13 p.m., police received a report of a man in a red jacket walking a tan dog smoking a cigarette at Gateview in violation of a posted sign. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Auto burglary
– At 7:35 p.m., police received a report of a cold burglary of a vehicle parked in a garage at Brittany Arms on Kains. Disposition: Case report taken.

Drunk/disorderly arrest 
– Police arrested an 82-year-old Berkeley man in the 1000 block of San Pablo on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The arrest log does not record the time of the arrest. A call log entry at 8:12 p.m. says an arrest was made after police-initiated contact with a pedestrian on San Pablo.

Drunk/disorderly arrest – At 11:55 p.m., police arrested a 33-year-old Albany woman in the 800 block of Madison on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The arrest followed a report to police at 11:41 p.m. of a man and a woman, who appeared to have been drinking, on a back porch on Madison where they don't live.
