Police Calls: Female Affray with Knife, Teens Snorting Something

The Albany police log for Aug. 16 includes a stolen car, a female upset after being accused of stealing toilet paper, a drunken woman driver weaving on San Pablo, a man waving a sword-like object and someone screaming obscenities and a slamming door.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Aug. 16

Stolen vehicle
– At 8:48 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen sometime during the evening on Ordway. Disposition: Case report taken.

Man asking for gas money at Arco
– At 11:02 a.m., police received a complaint about a man in his 60s asking customers for money for gas at the Am/Pm Arco on San Pablo. The owner would like the man to leave. Disposition: Case report taken.

Female upset, accused of stealing toilet paper – At 1:23 p.m., a female told police that an employee at the Am/Pm Arco on San Pablo was harassing and threatening her and had accused her of stealing toilet paper from the restroom. She wants to speak to an officer. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Reckless driving
– At 4:29 p.m., police received a report of a drunken female driver going northbound San Pablo who passed Hearst about four minutes earlier. The driver, in her 40s, was slouched down with a blank stare weaving and driving erratically. The vehicle was beat up, looking like it had been in previous accidents. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

iPhone, cash taken from unlocked vehicle
– At 5:35 p.m., police received a report of an iPhone and cash stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Marin. Disposition: Case report taken.

Teens snorting something at Cornell school
– At 7:02 p.m., a person reported seeing two teenaged boys snorting something white at benches near the multi-purpose room of Cornell Elementary School about 10-15 minutes earlier. The reporting party also saw a thin pipe and razor blade. One was described as white, about 15 years old with brown hair, and the other a Hispanic adult male with black hair. Both were wearing sweatshirts and jeans. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided. [Editor's note: It's not clear why the log entry refers to two teenaged boys but also refers to one as an adult.]

Altercation involving females, one with knife
– At 7:19 p.m., police received a report of an altercation on Solano involving at least two women, one of whom took a knife from a restaurant and concealed it in a black purse before confronting other parties. One group left but is now heading back from the Safeway lot. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

Screaming obscenities, slamming door
– At 9:28 p.m., police received a complaint of "screaming obscenities every so often, then slamming the door" on Talbot. It has been ongoing since 4:30 p.m. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Man swinging sword-like object
– At 10 p.m., police received a report of a man with red shopping cart swinging around a sword-like object. He tried to approach the reporting party, who rode away on a bike. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Clerk refuses to give change
– At 10:27 p.m., a customer at the the Am/Pm Arco told police that a clerk is refusing to give him his change. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.

Noisy group – At 11:08 p.m., police received a report from a resident at the Brittany Arms on Kains about a loud group from Montero's and would like the group to quiet down. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.

DUI arrest 
– At 11:31 p.m., police arrested a male at 900 San Pablo for investigation of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.
