Police Calls: Female Transient, 50, Arrested for Defrauding Cafe

The Albany police logs for Oct. 2-3 include a car theft on Jackson, a woman arrested for defrauding Rendezvous Cafe, repeated horn honking, a drunk/disorderly arrest behind Club Mallard and an aggressive pit bull at Albany Bulb.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Oct. 2

Drunk/disorderly arrest – At 2:41 a.m., police arrested a 26-year-old Vallejo woman on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way. The arrest followed a 2:30 a.m. report of officer-initiated activity at the rear of the Club Mallard building.

Probation violation, illegal key arrest – At 3:08 a.m., police arrested a 31-year-old Livermore man at San Pablo and Monroe on suspicion of violating probation and possessing a vehicle master key with criminal intent. The arrest followed a 2:20 a.m. report of an officer-initiated check of a pedestrian on San Pablo at the Gill Tract. 

Burglary tools, stolen property arrest – At 5:11 a.m., police arrested a 29-year-old El Sobrante man, whose occupation was listed as a mechanic, on suspicion of receiving stolen property and possessing burglary tools with criminal intent. The arrest followed a 5:04 a.m. report of a recovered stolen vehicle at Evelyn and Brighton.

Continued horn honking – At 9:31 a.m., police received a report of someone honking a horn between 7:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. on a regular basis on Buchanan. The neighbor is not cooperative. Disposition: Log note only.

Aggressive pit bull at Albany Bulb – At 9:58 a.m., police received a report that an aggressive pit bull charged the reporting party's dog. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Red luggage found – At 11:19 a.m., police received a report of a red piece of luggage with wheels and two pink ribbons found near bushes and a neighbor's sidewalk. Disposition: Log note only.

Sewer backed up at Albany police department – At 11:20 a.m., police logged a report of a sewer backup in the women's locker room at the police department. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Identity theft – At 11:29 a.m., police logged a report of a stolen Social Security number of someone who is currently out of the country. Disposition: Case report taken.

Hit and run with damage – At 11:37 a.m., police logged a report of a hit and run with damage Monday night near the YMCA on Kains. A witness left a note. The responsible was an older white female driver in a silver Prius. A license plate number was provided too. Disposition: Log note only.

Vehicle stolen – At 6:25 p.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen on Jackson after 12:30 p.m. today. The reporting party said there were construction workers outside all day. Disposition: Case report taken.

Theft at Whole Health Apothecary – At 6:27 p.m., police received a report of petty theft at Whole Health Apothecary on Solano. The suspect was described as a heavyset black woman in her 30s with her hair pulled back in a ponytail, wearing a gray hoodie and black backpack and a large black bag. She was last seen going east on Solano to southbound Masonic. Disposition: Log note only.

Thursday, Oct. 3

Person taking recycling – At 7:39 a.m., police received a report of a woman with a shopping cart taking recycling either on Madison or heading toward Madison. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

BB gun surrender 
– A 10:30 a.m. log entry says a person in the police lobby wants to surrender a BB gun for destruction. Disposition: Case report taken.

Resisting officer, defrauding business arrest – At 12:35 p.m., police arrested a 50-year-old female transient at 1235 Solano for resisting an officer and defrauding an inn or restaurant of $950 or less. The arrest followed a 12:29 p.m. "Defrauding an Innkeeper" report at Rendezvous Cafe on Solano. The report also mentions the Solano Bar and Grill.

Tripped by uneven sidewalk
– At 3:27 p.m., police received a report from someone who tripped on an uneven sidewalk in front of Jay Vee Liquor and hurt her ankle and shoulder. No ambulance was requested. Disposition: Case report taken.

Residential burglary
– At 10:27 p.m., police received a report of house that was ransacked on Johnson whose elderly resident is in the hospital. Disposition: Case report taken.
