Police Calls: Hit & Run by EBMUD Truck, Car Fire, Football Tossing Across Marin

The Albany police log for June 30 - July 1 includes an arson car fire, an EBMUD truck hitting an occupied parked vehicle and not stopping, a wallet stolen at Target, and a dog attacked by another dog whose owner began to laugh and take photos.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Sunday, June 30

DUI arrest
 – At 12:35 a.m., police arrested an Albany female in at 1000 Buchanan on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Arson car fire – At 2:07 a.m., police logged a arson car fire report involving a red Camaro on Garfield. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Auto burglary –  At 8:05 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle broken into some time the previous evening. It wasn't know if the vehicle was locked or unlocked. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Garage burglary – At 10:49 a.m., police received a report of a burglary of a garage on Dartmouth between 4-10 a.m. Disposition: Case report taken.

Wallet stolen at Target – At 10:53 a.m., a person reported a wallet stolen at Target earlier this morning. The store has surveillance footage. The credit card has already been used at a gas station in Richmond. Disposition: Case report taken.

Attempted burglary – At 2:01 p.m., police received a report of a burglary attempt sometime during the night at the Orientation Center for the Blind on Adams. A double-paned window was broken at the computer lab, but entry was not gained. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency. 

Dog attack provokes laughter – At 5:02 p.m., police received a report from a person in the lobby that the person had been walking down the street at Curtis and Solano with a German shepherd when a medium white dog on a leash that was not being held by the person with the white dog began attacking the German shepherd. The white dog's owners started to laugh and take pictures. The reporting party had a verbal altercation with the white dog's owner. Disposition: Log note only.

Football tossing across Marin – Police received a complaint at 5:25 p.m. saying three teen males were tossing a football across Marin. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Monday, July 1

Lost items – At 11:30 a.m., police logged a report from a person in the police lobby of a lost wallet containing credit cards, driver's license, etc. on Peralta. Disposition: Log note only.

Garage burglary – At 12:08 p.m., police received a report of a garage broken at Creative Play Center on Portland into sometime during the night. Disposition: Case report taken.

Solar lights in tree stolen – At 12:20 p.m., police received a report of solar lights taken from a tree on Curtis. The reporting party wanted it logged to have a record of it. Disposition: Log note only.

Hit and run with possible injury – At 1:39 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run at San Pablo and Buchanan at 1:20 p.m. The reporting party was rear-ended and said the responsible driver refused to provide her info. The reporting party said he wasn't sure if he was injured. Disposition: Log note only.

Hit and run by EBMUD truck – At 3:24 p.m., a person who was in parked vehicle at Cornell and Solano reported that the vehicle had just been hit and damaged by a white EBMUD truck towing a flatbed trailer with a yellow tractor on it. The reporting party honked and waved at the driver. The driver looked at the reporting party and drove away going south on Cornell. Disposition: Case report taken.
