Police Calls: Hit & Run Arrest, Camera Theft at Library, Bike Taken

The Albany police log for May 1-2 includes a hit and run arrest, a camera stolen by an elderly woman at the Albany Library, a bike stolen at Albany Bowl, a burglary at Citibank and four male juveniles smoking pot on the BART path.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Wednesday, May 1

Non-injury accident – At 9:35 a.m., police logged a non-injury vehicle accident at Buchanan and Polk. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Citibank burglary – At 10:49 a.m., police received a report of burglary that occurred April 28 at Citibank on Solano. Disposition: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – At 1:17 p.m., police logged a non-injury accident involving two vehicles at Carmel and Solano. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

ID theft – At 1:29 p.m., a person came to the police station to report identity theft. Disposition: Case report taken.

Bike stolen – At 7:12 p.m., police received a second-hand report of a bike stolen at Albany Bowl. The victim will be in front of the bowling alley. Disposition: Case report taken.

Thursday, May 2

Hit and run arrest – The arrest log shows the arrest of a male from Richmond in the 900 block of Buchanan on suspicion of hit and run. (The time is not listed.)

Deceased raccoon – At 8:30 a.m., police received a call of a dead raccoon in front of K & S on San Pablo. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Pot smokers on BART path – At 8:44 a.m., police received a report of four male juveniles smoking marijuana on the BART path near Brighton. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Vandalism – At 12:40 p.m., police received a report of window that had been broken between 9:40 a.m. and 12:39 p.m. on Solano. No one was inside and it was unknown if anything was taken. Disposition: Case report taken.

Camera stolen at library – At 12:58 p.m., a person reported that a camera was taken from from the person's bag at the Albany Library by an elderly woman in a hat, black shirt and blue pants whom the reporting party believes is in the library bathroom. Disposition: Case report taken.

Stolen road sign – At 1:29 p.m., police received a report that a male juvenile teenager in a blue shirt and shorts and wearing a backpack took a road sign at Evelyn and Washington and was last seen on foot on Evelyn. At 1:31 p.m., police logged officer contact with a pedestrian at Evelyn and Garfield in connection with the report of the sign theft. Disposition: Log note only.

ID theft – At 3:39 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported a case of ID theft in which an order for an iPhone 5 showed up on a wireless bill. Disposition: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – At 4 p.m., police logged a non-injury vehicle accident at the Albany police station on San Pablo. Disposition: Case report taken.

Suspicious circumstance – At 11:35 p.m., a resident on Evelyn reported that a male in a white t-shirt and dark jeans, about 6-feet 3-inches or 6-feet 4-inches tall tried to open the resident's front door about 10 minutes earlier. The male then got into a black four-door vehicle in which another male was sitting and sat there for about five minutes before leaving westbound on Marin. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
