Police Calls: Juveniles Smoking Pot, Trash Cans Distress

Albany police logs for Jan. 10 include two non-injury accidents, a stolen cell phone, a neighbor upset over someone using her trash cans, juveniles smoking pot, a resident harassing a security guard and a person sleeping in the Target lot.

Friday, Jan. 10

Elderly man running in and out of traffic – At 9:29 a.m., police received a report of a tall, slender elderly man in glasses and a sweatshirt and tan pants running in and out of traffic at Portland and Key Route near the high school. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Suspect arrested – At 2:05 p.m., police logged a report of a suspect in a black hoodie last seen running westbound at Interstate "580/80." The suspect may have dumped the hoodie. The vehicle was parked on I-580 eastbound near the Buchanan off-ramp. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency. Arrest made by APD. (Editor's note: the arrest is not listed on the arrest log.)

3 juveniles smoking pot – At 3 p.m., police received a report of three male juveniles – one in a red hoodie, one in a black hoodie and one in a black t-shirt –smoking pot on Evelyn. Disposition: Log note only.

2 men steal cell phone – At 3:07 p.m., police received a report that two men stole a cell phone on San Pablo and are now in El Cerrito Plaza running on foot. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

911 call on luggage taken from auto – At 5:58 p.m., police received a 911 call of an auto burglary in the last few minutes at the Walgreens near Gilman and San Pablo. Luggage was taken. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Trash cans complaint – At 6:36 p.m., police were told that a neighor is accusing the reporting party of using her trash cans on Key Route. The reporting party says someone may have accidentally used the neighbor's trash cans this afternoon while doing yard work. Neighbor said she had called police to report it. The log entry says it occurred at Joy's Rest Home. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 7:53 p.m., police logged officer-initiated activity and a non-injury accident involving three vehicles on San Pablo with the southbound lanes blocked. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 9:07 p.m., police logged officer-initiated activity and a non-injury accident on San Pablo. Disposition: Case report taken.

Warning to sleeper in Target lot – At 9:54 p.m., police logged a report of an officer checking on a sleeper the parking lot at Target. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Resident harassing security officer – At 10:50 p.m., police received a report that a resident was harassing a security officer on Pierce, creating a verbal altercation and using profanities. The reporting party said the resident has a stay away order against another security guard but is approaching security and trying to start problems. The reporting party videotaped the incident. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved.

Well, I'm glad the police is controlling Albany juveniles. They were always good at that. Also glad pot smokers are addressed. Of course, let's leave the meth cookers on the Bulb alone....
