Police Calls: Laptop & Food Stolen, Oven Fire, Spanish Gun Turned In

The Albany police logs for Nov. 29 include a laptop taken in a home burglary, a cooler full of food taken from a car, a woman screaming on Talbot, an oven fire on Ordway and a Spanish revolver turned in to police.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Nov. 29

Power outage at homeless shelter – At 10:19 a.m., police received a report of an electrical breaker clicking on and off and of no power to the women's building at the temporary homeless shelter near the Albany Bulb. Disposition: Log note only.

Vehicle entered – At 10:24 a.m., police received a report a vehicle prowled through but with no loss detected on Neilson. Disposition: Log note only.

Spanish revolver turned in – At 11:12 a.m., police recorded a Spanish 38-caliber revolver turned in at the police department. Disposition: Case report taken.

Mac laptop stolen from residence – At 12:31 p.m., police received a report from a resident on Curtis who returned after two days away to find that a Mac laptop was missing. Disposition: Case report taken.

Vehicle struck – At 1:12 p.m., police received a report of vehicle struck by an unknown party on Gateview. Disposition: Log note only.

Female screaming – At 2:13 p.m., police received a report of female on the east side of Talbot near the the Plaza Oak Professional Building screaming, "Leave me alone" intermittently about every five minutes. The reporting party doesn't believe anyone is around her. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.

Battery – At 5:34 p.m., a person in the police reported an injury to the lower left abdomen caused by a person who followed the victim to Chevron in Berkeley where the battery occurred at 2:42 p.m. today. Disposition: Case report taken.

Cooler full of food stolen from vehicle – At 5:48 p.m., police received a report of a cooler full of food stolen from a vehicle whose window was smashed in the last 40 minutes on Stannage.

Auto broken into – At 6:45 p.m., police received a report of a burglary of a vehicle whose window was smashed a few days ago on Key Route. There was no known loss. Disposition: Case report taken.

911 call, oven fire – At 7:48 p.m., police received a report of a small oven fire on Ordway that was extinguished. The residence is now smokey, and the smoke alarm is sounding in the background. The reporting party's husband is saying it's under control. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Injury accident – At 8:13 p.m., police received a report of an injury accident in the lot on the west side of the Target entrance. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Auto accident – At 8:55 p.m., police received a report of a brand-new white Honda or Toyota Camry with a flat tire and damage to the side parked four houses to the north on Jackson with its hazard lights on. The reporting party heard the sound of an accident and tried to approach the vehicle and driver, who departed northbound and then parked nearby. Disposition: No police action warranted at this time.
