Police Calls: Man in Mask Arrested for Attempted Robbery at Target

The Albany police log for Oct. 11 includes a man arrested for an attempted robbery in which he wore a mask and approached a Target customer placing bags in her car. Another man was arrested for stealing an ice cream bar.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Oct. 11

Campfire at Albany Bulb – At 7:51 a.m., police logged a report of an officer contacting a subject at Albany Bulb for having a campfire. Disposition: Log note only.

Fraudulent use of credit card – At 10:34 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity regarding fraudulent use of credit card at Target. The case was forwarded from the Exeter Police Department. Disposition: Case report taken.

Fraudulent use of credit card – At 10:52 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity regarding fraudulent use of credit card at Target. Disposition: Case report taken.

Fraudulent use of credit card – At 11:03 a.m., police logged officer-initiated activity regarding fraudulent use of credit card at Target. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft arrest 
– At 11:17 a.m., police arrested a 28-year-old Moraga man at Masonic and Solano on suspicion of petty theft. The arrest followed a report of a man taking an ice cream bar at the Arco Am/Pm who was last seen heading east on Marin carrying a large bag and riding on a yellow bike.

Arrest for attempted robbery at Target – At 3:30 p.m., police arrested a 27-year-old Richmond man at 705 Buchanan Street on suspicion of attempted robbery and auto burglary. The arrest followed a 2:59 robbery report of subject in a mask approaching a person placing plastic bags in a vehicle trunk in the overllow lot at Target. (Editor's note: Albany police said the person placing the bags in the trunk feared that she was about to be robbed by the man in the mask and called out.)

Man harassing customers at Target – At 7:33 p.m., police received a report of a man in a gray hoodie harassing customers at Target. Disposition: Case report taken.

Dodge Durango doing donuts – At 10:22 p.m., police received a report of gray Dodge Durango doing donuts on Garfield. Disposition: Log note only.

Three people messing with car – At 10:58 p.m., police received a report of two females and one male messing with the reporting party's car on Washington. They ran off when confronted. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Male rifling through trash – At 11:28 p.m., police received a report of a male with a flashlight going through the trash cans on the side of a building on Solano. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Late-night noisy kids at Memorial Park – At 11:38 p.m., police received a report of kids at Memorial Park making lots of noise. Disposition: Log note only.
