Police Calls: Metal Knuckles, Lewd Conduct In Police Lobby, Kids Throwing Apples, Man on Raft with Suitcase and More

JUNE 28, THURSDAY

8:37 a.m. A thief took change out of a woman's unlocked vehicle on Masonic Avenue. 

11:42 a.m. A woman said she had back and leg pain after a collision at Marin and Santa Fe avenues; she declined medical assistance.

1:31 p.m. A caller reported a 45-year-old man at the Albany waterfront who "keeps leaving food droppings to feed seagulls," including meat, whole avocados and other food. When the man is confronted about it, "he gets agitated and hostile." Police were unable to locate the man but were told he had the permission of Golden Gate Fields.  

1:37 p.m. A caller at Ordway and Solano avenues reported a man camping out under a tree wearing fatigues, smoking and panhandling. 

2:03 p.m. Police responded to a fight between a male and a female at Kains and Solano avenues. 

3:39 p.m. A caller reported two white male teens, one in a gray knit cap and one with a gray and black baseball cap, who exchanged money at Washington and Cornell avenues. One of them had been seen on the corner with a cell phone earlier.

4:56 p.m. to 5:54 p.m. Police received two calls about when they weren't supposed to be there. Police indicated that one of the reports was unfounded.

5:59 p.m. A thief smashed a window in a vehicle in the 700 block of Evelyn Avenue and stole an iPod.

JUNE 29, FRIDAY

1:10 a.m. Police arrested Brian William Clark of Oakland at Taco Bell on suspicion of possessing metal knuckles and being a minor in possession of alcohol. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility in downtown Oakland. 

2:48 a.m. Police arrested Dave Milton Toler of Pinole on suspicion of driving under the influence at Carlson Boulevard and San Luis. He was to the taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

5:46 a.m. Paramedics took someone who had been drinking, and was found in the road at Santa Fe Avenue and Thousand Oaks Boulevard, to the hospital. 

6:38 a.m. Someone found a portable safe and two wallets near a yellow truck on San Gabriel Avenue. 

12:56 p.m. A property owner on Kains Avenue reported being told by tenants that a transient elderly man with a small television was staying in their garage at night and watching TV.

2:17 p.m. A caller at Washington and San Pablo avenues reported two teen girls appear to exchange money for drugs with a man in his 20s. 

4:46 p.m. A caller on Santa Fe reported that a dog had bitten the mail carrier the prior day. 

6:46 p.m. Police arrested Gibb Agnew of Oakland at the Buchanan Interchange in connection with a misdemeanor outside-agency warrant. He was released with a citation to appear in court. 

JUNE 30, SATURDAY

2:59 a.m. Police arrested Victor Manuel Rivas Jr. of Richmond on suspicion of driving under the influence at Central Avenue and Pierce Street in Richmond. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

12:06 p.m. A thief stole sunglasses from an unlocked vehicle on Ramona Avenue. 

1:08 p.m. A caller reported when they are not allowed, from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday.

5:37 p.m. Police gave advice regarding mother-daughter issues on Adams Street. 

9:07 p.m. Police responded to a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend at Kaady Car Wash, and took a case report. 

JULY 1, SUNDAY

1:11 a.m. Police arrested a Berkeley woman on suspicion of driving under the influence in the 800 block of San Pablo Avenue. She was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

1:25 a.m. Police received a report of a woman at the Ivy Room taking drinks from other customers. She received a warning. 

2:29 a.m. Police arrested Peter Picard of Albany on suspicion of public intoxication at Washington and Evelyn avenues; he was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

3:48 a.m. Police arrested Leon Hugh Evans III of Berkeley after authorities say he was found masturbating in the police department lobby; he was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure and on a probation violation, and was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

9:34 a.m. Police arrested Joseph Paul Briones, who had no listed address, at Polk Street in connection with a misdemeanor warrant from another law enforcement agency. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

5:20 p.m. A caller from Cerrito Street reported that a driver had hit his dog, then left without stopping. 

JULY 2, MONDAY

11:02 a.m. A woman on Cerrito Street reported that a juvenile in blue jeans and a t-shirt had allowed a large black dog to defecate on her lawn. 

Noon. A caller reported a man, near Interstate 580 and Buchanan Street, in the water on a raft with a suitcase who was "pulling himself along with a stick." 

5:21 p.m. A man with long hair and a baseball cap was reportedly trying to steal magazines from a shop on San Pablo Avenue. 

5:57 p.m. A caller reported "."

6:40 p.m. to 6:57 p.m. Police gave two warnings at Memorial Park.

9:49 p.m. The put out a fire on the Albany Bulb. 

JULY 3, TUESDAY

7:16 a.m. A thief stole a car from the 900 block of Talbot Avenue during the night. 

8:16 a.m. A thief broke into a vehicle in the 500 block of Jackson Street over night. 

11:10 a.m. A thief stole a change purse from a car parked unlocked on Masonic.

2:35 p.m. A caller whose car had just been hit reported "juveniles in (the) creek area, throwing apples at passing vehicles." Police were unable to find them. 

4:15 p.m. A caller reported that "someone just dumped off an article of clothing and sped away" at Dartmouth and Stannage avenues. Police took a case report. 

11:51 p.m. An employee at Max's Liquor said a tall skinny man stole a bottle of liquor, and left on foot toward Solano Avenue. 

11:55 p.m. A Safeway employee reported a female driver with two male juveniles who had taken some liquor and were parked on Curtis.

JULY 4, WEDNESDAY

3:13 a.m. Police arrested Santisouk Tea Chaiyasith of Rodeo on suspicion of driving under the influence at Interstate 80 and Ashby Avenue. Chaiyasith was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. 

4:11 a.m. Police found a vehicle dome light on, with its door open, in the 800 block of Carmel Avenue and determined the vehicle to have been burglarized.
