Police Calls: Motorist Drives Over Foot of Parking Officer, Ransacked Home, Stalking Arrest, Stolen Romney Sign, 'Loud Flute Music' and More

JULY 16, MONDAY

12:21 p.m. Someone found a set of keys at Portland Avenue and Key Route Boulevard. 

8:20 p.m. Police gave a warning to someone collecting recycling at San Carlos and Portland avenues.

JULY 17, TUESDAY

8:07 a.m. A thief broke into the glove box of an unlocked car on Francis Street. 

10:15 a.m. Police responded to a report of an accident on Key Route Boulevard involving a cyclist and a vehicle. [Albany Patch has requested additional information from police.]

1:05 p.m. Police arrested a motorist who allegedly drove over the foot of a parking enforcement officer in Berkeley, at Solano and Ensenada avenues, then fled; Albany Police stopped the driver on Carlson Boulevard and Bayview Avenue after Berkeley Police asked other law enforcement officers to keep an eye out for him. Berkeley Police took the driver into custody, and said the motorist had driven away while the parking enforcement officer tried to put a boot on the involved vehicle.

2:10 p.m. Someone found a wallet on Jackson Street.

6:49 p.m. A caller near Key Route and Portland reported losing keys in the area recently. 

8:41 p.m. Police reported continuing an investigation of a suspicious circumstance on Pierce Street, but did not include additional information in the bulletin.

9:50 p.m. A caller on Cornell Avenue asked police to address "loud flute music" that was causing a disturbance; the request for police was canceled.

JULY 18, WEDNESDAY

12:02 a.m. A thief broke a window to get inside a van parked near the Albany Bowl.

8:46 a.m. Police responded to a burglary of a vehicle in the 600 block of Stannage Avenue. 

2:47 p.m. Police arrested parolee Andrew Shiber of Albany in the 400 block of Evelyn Avenue after he reportedly would not leave his father's residence when his father wasn't home. He was arrested on suspicion of parole violation and entering and occupying without the owner's consent, and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

4:52 p.m. A thief ransacked the downstairs of a home in the 800 block of Washington Avenue during a burglary. 

7:54 p.m. Someone reported five or six middle-school-aged boys, some of whom had skateboards, breaking bottles in the blacktop area of Cornell Elementary School.

8:50 p.m. Police gave a warning to a man reported to be "stealing recycling" on Adams Street. 

9:09 p.m. A white man in his 30s in a blue hat and black leather jacket, wearing khaki pants, tried to steal money from the register of a business in the 1100 block of San Pablo Avenue. Police took a case report.

11:20 p.m. A woman said she could hear someone going through her recycling on Jackson Street, but police were unable to locate the person responsible.

JULY 19, THURSDAY

12:57 a.m. Someone at Ventura and Marin avenues reporting hearing ." Police took a case report. The woman was believed to be missing, and , but later was found safe. 

8:13 a.m. Police arrested Yatchung Leon Lee of El Cerrito on suspicion of stalking and making criminal threats; he was taken to the Glenn Dyer Jail in downtown Oakland. [Albany Patch has requested additional information from police.]

10:16 a.m. The responded to a report of a leaking heat cannister behind Club Mallard. 

10:36 a.m. Someone reported a man and woman going through recycling on Cornell Avenue. 

12:37 p.m. Police arrested Jonathan Lascano-Benham of Concord after a report of petty theft at Safeway. He was released on a citation with a promise to appear in court. 

5:16 p.m. Someone reported a deer at the south end of the Gill Tract that was stuck in orange netting, but police were unable to find the animal. 

5:24 p.m. Someone near Memorial Park called police about ; police let the dog owners know about the posted hours. 

5:32 p.m. Someone reported a fire at the Albany Bulb but authorities responded and did not locate it. 

6:19 p.m. Someone stole a sign in support of Mitt Romney from a front yard on Ventura the prior night. 

9:01 p.m. A caller reported a large campfire at the Albany Bulb.

9:59 p.m. Police responded to an argument between neighbors on Curtis Street. 

JULY 20, FRIDAY

12:43 a.m. An elderly woman went into the Police Department lobby to report that she was unable to sleep and having problems in her neighborhood, on Buchanan Street. 

2:12 a.m. Police arrested Victor Olivas of Albany on suspicion of public intoxication after a report of a fight between two men in the 600 block of Stannage Avenue. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail. An ambulance also responded.
