Police Calls: Parolees Arrested, Beehive Dispute, Alleged DUI Crash with Cocaine and More

APRIL 5, THURSDAY

11:30 a.m. Police recovered a stolen vehicle in the 800 block of Cleveland Avenue that reportedly had been parked on the block for six weeks.

2:41 p.m. Four women in a beige convertible Mercedes stole candy from the .

3:39 p.m. Police arrested Kevin Lee Banks Jr., 23, of Albany on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of cocaine. Police said Banks was driving south in the 800 block of San Pablo Avenue when he rear-ended a vehicle in front of him. There were no injuries. Police said Banks had an open bottle of brandy in one pocket of his sweatshirt, and that authorities later found cocaine while Banks was being booked into jail. 

7:35 p.m. A caller reported near Marin and San Pablo avenues. 

10:57 p.m. Someone smashed a vehicle window in the 1100 block of Portland Avenue within the prior hour and stole a company laptop. 

APRIL 6, FRIDAY

2:38 a.m. A woman called police from to say she heard someone climbing into her apartment on San Pablo Avenue, and that her home had been burglarized the prior day. 

7:05 a.m. Albany police helped another law enforcement agency after a report of a wrong-way driver on Interstate 80 in a stolen vehicle. The driver left the car in Albany near Interstate 80 and fled on foot.

4:48 p.m. Someone reported an oven fire with flames on Key Route Boulevard.

6:16 p.m. Neighbors on Albany Terrace got into a verbal fight "over a beehive between the houses." (Log note only.)

APRIL 7, SATURDAY

3:27 a.m. Police arrested two parolees, an Oakland man and a Richmond man, at San Pablo and Monroe Street, in connection with multiple offenses, including possession of forged currency, receiving stolen property, forgery and conspiracy. They were taken to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facility. (Albany Patch has requested additional information.)

2:26 p.m. A burglar broke into a vehicle in the 800 block of Ramona Avenue overnight.

5:14 p.m. A panhandler at the asked a customer for money and then made threats when the customer declined. 

5:46 p.m. Someone stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle at  around 4:30 p.m. 

6:33 p.m. A vandal broke an upper-level window at on San Pablo.

6:49 p.m. Albany Police helped El Cerrito officers after a report of a strong-arm robbery on Colusa Avenue. The assailant, described as a black 18-year-old in gray sweatshirt and blue jeans, left southbound on foot with a purse.

7:03 p.m. A vandal smashed the rear window of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Masonic Avenue.

7:50 p.m. Police responded to a report of a small fire at set by four to five teenage boys. They received a warning.

APRIL 8, SUNDAY

12:56 a.m. Police arrested Vernon Blake Hubbard III of El Sobrante, at San Pablo and Portland avenues, on a warrant with a bail amount of $100,000 related to driving under the influence. He was taken to the Glenn Dyer jail.

2:34 a.m. Police arrested Mphenyeke Moeketsi of El Sobrante on suspicion of driving under the influence near Interstate 80 and Potrero Avenue in Richmond. He was released with a notice to appear in court.

10:43 a.m. Someone stole a road bike from the 1200 block of Solano Avenue during the night.
