Police Calls: Patrol Car Hit, UC Village Prowlers, iPhone Theft at Middle School

The Albany police logs for Nov. 30 - Dec. 1 include an occupied, parked patrol car hit by a passing vehicle, an iPhone stolen from Albany Middle School, shoes taken from a porch by a male in a plaid jacket and six arrests, including four for DUI.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Nov. 30

DUI arrest – At 1:50 a.m., police arrested a 46-year-old Oakland man at San Pablo and Monroe on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

DUI arrest – At 2:43 a.m., police arrested a 30-year-old El Sobrante man in the 700 block of Calhoun on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Drug, impersonating another arrest – At 2:46 a.m., police arrested a 44-year-old Oakland man at the Buchanan interchange on suspicion of impersonating another and possession of methamphetamine or other controlled substance.

Graffiti at Saint Mary's – At 12:46 p.m., police logged a report of a custodian at Saint Mary's College High on Albina wanting to report new graffiti. Disposition: Case report taken.

Suspicious person – At 3:10 p.m., a person in the police lobby reported seeing a male subject wearing a bathrobe sitting in a parked car on Cornell with a coat covering his head and writing on something. Disposition: Log note only.

Patrol car hit by passing vehicle – At 7:52 p.m., police logged a report of "parked patrol vehicle occupied by 613" struck by a passing vehicle at San Pablo and Gilman. Disposition: Case report taken.

Resisting an officer arrest – At 11:22 p.m., police arrested a 29-year-old Oakland man at 800 Buchanan on suspicion of resisting an officer.

DUI arrest – At 11:48 p.m., police arrested a 33-year-old Oakland man in the 700 block of Calhoun on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Sunday, Dec. 1

Prowlers at University Village – At 12:05 a.m., police logged a "hot prowl" report of assistance to an outside agency regarding two men found inside on the 700 block of Gooding Way and fled in white van with tinted windows. The subjects were responsible for the same in the past. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Upset group demand refunds, threaten employees – At 12:34 a.m., police received a report that a group of 10-12 people in the main area near the front desk on San Pablo who were being kicked were demanding refunds and threatening employees. Disposition: Disputing parties separated – matter resolved. (Editor's note: the log entry does not indicate where on San Pablo the incident occurred.)

Recovered stolen vehicle – At 2:54 p.m., police logged a report of a recovered vehicle stolen out of Pinole at Solano and Polk. It had been parked on Polk for several days. Disposition: Case report taken.

DUI, parole violation arrest – At 4:05 p.m., police arrested a 29-year-old Eureka man at 518 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating parole.

Excessive dog barking. howling – At 4:44 p.m., a resident complained about excessive dog barking and howling in a residence behind his on San Carlos. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint. (Editor's note: the log entry says "occurred on San Carlos," though it's not clear which residence is on San Carlos – the reporting party's or the dog's.)

iPhone stolen at Middle School – At 5:39 p.m., a person reported the cold theft of his iPhone from the blacktop area of Albany Middle School. No suspect or suspects are known. Disposition: Case report taken.

Shoes stolen from front porch – At 6:40 p.m., police received a report of male with dark hair and wearing a plaid jacket coming onto the front porch and taking shoes on Adams. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Keys found in front of Safeway – At 10:58 p.m., police received a report of keys found in front of Safeway. Disposition: Case report taken.

DUI, parole violation arrest – At 11:37 p.m., police arrested a 37-year-old San Francisco man at 400 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating parole.
