Police Calls: Pot Arrest, Men Fighting with Nunchucks, Vehicle vs. Fire Hydrant

The Albany police logs for Sept. 28-29 include two stolen autos, a man arrested for having marijuana, several men fighting with nunchucks outside Montero's, kids setting off fireworks about 1:45 a.m. at Memorial Park and an unstable manhole cover.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Saturday, Sept. 28

DUI arrest 
– At 12:06 a.m., police arrested a 49-year-old Richmond woman at Buchanan and the westbound I-80 onramp on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

Men fighting with nunchucks outside Montero's – At 1:18 a.m., police received a report of about five men fighting with nunchucks in front of Montero's at Solano and San Pablo.

Kids setting off fireworks – At 1:45 a.m., police received a complaint of kinds setting off fireworks at Memorial Park. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Vehicle stolen – At 9:39 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen on Ventura. Disposition: Case report taken.

Non-injury accident – At 10:15 a.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident Marin and Curtis. The vehicles were out of the roadway. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Vehicle stolen – At 10:36 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen from a garage sometime during the evening on Kains. Disposition: Case report taken.

Found property – At 10:46 p.m., police logged a report of officer-initiated activity at Carmel and Portland of found property that looks like it could be from an auto burglary. Disposition: Log note only.

Sunday, Sept. 29

Pot arrest – At 12:02 a.m., police arrested a 36-year-old unemployed Richmond man at 400 San Pablo Avenue on suspicion of possessing more than an ounce of marijuana.

DUI arrest – At 1:13 a.m., police arrested a 36-year-old Berkeley woman at 1045 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

DUI arrest – At 2:11 a.m., police arrested a 32-year-old Berkeley man at 500 San Pablo Ave. on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Man warned for taking recycling – At 11:03 a.m., police logged a recycling-theft report of a bearded man in a black hat with a shopping cart entering the reporting party's property on Madison and removing cans from the garbage can. Disposition: Miscellaneous violation – warning given.

Unstable manhole cover – At 12:54 p.m., police received a report of a small manhole cover on Solano between Ordway and Peralta moving and shaking when stepped on. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Vehicle vs. fire hydrant – At 2:26 p.m., police received a report of non-injury accident involving a vehicle and a fire hydrant on Jackson. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Man shouting – At 4:32 p.m., police received a report of a man in gray sweats shouting. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.
