Police Calls: Purse Stolen at Bus Stop, Stolen Bike on Craigslist, Knife-Wielding Tattooed Woman

The Albany police logs for Aug. 14-15 include a purse stolen at a bus stop on Solano, theft arrests at Target, a noisy rooster in the early a.m., a stolen bike found on Craigslist, and a loose dog being aggressive towards kids on Spokane.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

DUI arrest 
– At 3:01 a.m., police arrested a male at San Pablo and Gilman on suspicion of driving under the influence.


Cock crowing in early a.m.
– At 5:29 a.m., police received a complaint of a noisy rooster at the house directly behind the reporting party's house. The log entry says it "occurred on Evelyn," though it's not clear which home is on Evelyn – the reporting party's or the house where the rooster lives. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Petty theft – At 9:31 a.m., police received a report of a petty theft on Jackson sometime between Monday evening and yesterday. Disposition: Case report taken. 

Non-injury accident – At 10:25 a.m., police received a report of non-injury accident sometime last night involving the reporting party's parked vehicle and another vehicle whose driver left a note. The log entry says it "occurred at Albany Bowl" and that the vehicle was parked near the reporting party's residence. The reporting party asked for a police report. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

White-haired older man watching young female – At 1:05 p.m., police received a report of young woman sitting at a bus stop at Solano and San Carlos being watched for the past 15 minutes by a man with white hair in his 60s. Disposition: Situation corrected by APD.

Man in camouflage clothes has caution tape across sidewalk – At 1:52 p.m., police received a report of a 45-year-old man all in camouflage clothing with caution tape across the sidewalk at Marin and Masonic close to the Albany Library. Disposition: Log note only.

Tattooed young female with knife – At 2:23 p.m., police received a report of a woman in her 20s with a knife and wearing a black tank top and black jeans, sitting in a dark 4-door vehicle on San Pablo. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.

Parked vehicle hit – At 4:06 p.m., police received a report of a parked vehicle hit on Washington. Disposition: Log note only.

Possible injury to cyclist from opening vehicle door – At 4:07 p.m., police received a report that an elderly female who was getting into gray Honda Civic on Masonic may have opened the door on a passing bicyclist on a red Mongoose. Disposition: Case report taken.

Waving toy gun in middle of street – At 6:03 p.m., police received a report of a person with a shopping cart waving a toy gun around in the middle of the street on Cornell. Disposition: Case report taken.

Resident finds unknown man on her couch – At 6:22 p.m., police received a report from a resident on Brighton who just returned home to find an unknown man on her couch. Disposition: Assistance given to outside agency.

Thursday, Aug. 15

DUI arrest – At 1:02 a.m., police arrested a male at San Pablo and Harrison on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Auto stolen – At 8:16 a.m., police received a report from a person in the police lobby of cold vehicle theft on Masonic. Disposition: Case report taken.

Petty theft arrests at Target – About 4 p.m., police arrested a male and a female at Target on suspicion of petty theft. The arrests followed a report at 2:53 p.m. of a female in custody at Target and refusing to allow store security to put handcuffs on her.

Battery at Target – At 3:22 p.m., police received a report of a battery in the parking lot at Target. The log entry says "departed onto the freeway," presuming referring to the person responsible for the battery and with the reporting party following in a black Chevrolet Malibu. The reporting party has injuries to his head and face. Disposition: Follow-up complete.

Purse stolen at bus stop – At 3:58 p.m., police received a report of purse stolen at a bus stop at Albany Sauna on Solano and then recovered about three hours later at Whole Foods in Oakland. The loss is cash, and the reporting party says Albany Sauna should have a video of the incident. Disposition: Case report taken.

Dog barking all day – At 4:45 p.m., police received a complaint about a dog barking all day on and off on Buchanan. The reporting party would like a call. Disposition: Message left.

Outstanding warrant arrest – At 5:41 p.m., police arrested a male, whose occupation was listed as a "supervisor," in the 600 block of San Pablo Avenue on an outstanding warrant.

Loose dog "very aggressive" toward kids – At 6:40 p.m., police received a report of medium-sized black and white dog running loose in the area of Spokane and being "very aggressive" towards the children playing there. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Stolen bike seen on Craigslist – At 10:32 p.m., police received a report from a person who located a match for his stolen bike on Craigslist. It has distinguishing features such as continental road tires and cut-down handlebars for new bar ends. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to outside agency.
