Police Calls: Register Theft at Grazzy Burgers, Homeless Shelter Vandalism

The Albany police log for Nov. 22 includes cash stolen from the register at Grazzy Burgers, vandalism of the city's new homeless shelter on its opening day, power lines and tree limbs downed by high winds and a son's bicycle stolen.

The following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Nov. 22

Large branch pulling down power lines – At 7:01 a.m., police received a report of a large tree branch pulling down power lines on Sante Fe. Disposition: Log note only. (Editor's note: This was during the time that high winds buffeted the East Bay on Thursday night and Friday morning.)

Non-injury accident – At 8:18 a.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident at Marin and Kains. Disposition: Log note only.

Found cell phone – At 8:54 a.m., police logged a report of a found cell phone. Disposition: Log note only.

Power lines down on Portland – At 10:18 a.m., police received a report of a tree branch and power lines on the ground on Portland. Disposition: Miscellaneous public service provided.

Cash taken from Grazzy Burgers register – At 12:36 a.m., police received a report that a thief came in the rear door of Grazzy Burgers on San Pablo about 8 a.m. and stole cash from the register while an employee was cleaning the kitchen. Disposition: Case report taken.

Vandalism at new homeless shelter – At 1:44 p.m., police logged a report of vandalism at the city's new temporary homeless shelter on the Buchanan Street extension. Disposition: Case report taken. (Editor's note: This was the day that the shelter opened at 5:30 p.m.)

Male yelling obscenities at Albany Bulb – At 3:09 p.m., police received a report that a male was yelling obscenities from an area near the water, behind a protected area on the plateau at the Albany Bulb. Disposition: Responsible/s advised of complaint, will correct situation.

Truck hits tree, drives on – At 4:03 p.m., a resident reported that a truck hit a tree in front of his house on Talbot and kept going. Disposition: Log note only.

Non-injury accident – At 5:46 p.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident involving a Lincoln and an SUV at Solano and Ramona. Disposition: Log note only.

Bike stolen – At 9:02 p.m., police received a report that a bike belonging to the reporting party's son was stolen from the side of the house on Cornell last night or today. It is a silver/blue men's hybrid Gary Fisher Nirvana with black tires and a speedometer and light on the handlebars. Disposition: Log note only.
