Police Calls: Robbery, Auto Theft & Burglaries, Several Arrests

The Albany police log for April 17-18 includes an robbery, a stolen auto, auto burglaries, a number of arrests, an injury accident, a wallet stolen at the Hotsy Totsy, a wallet left at the Albany Library, and a swarm of bees.

The following information was obtained from the Albany Police Department's daily incident log and its arrest reports.

Wednesday, April 17

Robbery – A robbery at Dartmouth and Masonic was reported at 2:50 a.m. The victim was at Sante Fe and Gilman with Berkeley police.

Auto theft – At 10:13 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle stolen on Pierce. Disposition: Log note only.

Wallet stolen at Hotsy Totsy – At noon, police received a report of wallet stolen at the Hotsy Totsy on Friday.

Burglary – At 2:17 p.m., a resident on Sonoma reported just noticing that the rear door of a house belonging to a neighbor on vacation was ajar and broken.

Auto burglary – At 3:30 p.m., police received a report of an auto burglary sometime the previous night on Ventura.

License plate stolen? – At 7:01 p.m., a resident on Polk reported that he noticed today that the front license plate on his vehicle had been stolen at an unknown location.

Lewd or obscene conduct – At 7:35 p.m., a person reported seeing a man in his 30s wearing a gray hoodie masturbating in public on two occasions around 6 a.m. when the reporting party was out walking, on April 12 in the park near Solano and Peralta and April 16 in front of a business near Carmel in Solano.

Auto burglary – An auto burglary at Target was reported at 7:44 p.m.

Thursday, April 18

DUI arrest – A San Pablo man was arrested on San Pablo near Harrison in Berkeley shortly after 1:55 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence and having a blood alcohol level of 0.08% or more.

Injury accident – An injury accident involving a gray vehicle and a black SUV on Madison was reported at 7:20 a.m.

Auto thefts? – Police recorded two reports at 7:59 a.m. of overdue vehicles at Hertz on San Pablo.

Bee swarm – At 12:19 p.m., police received a report of a large group of bees outside near the front door of All In One Fitness on San Pablo. Disposition: Matter/persons referred to an outside agency.

Auto burglary – At 1:10 p.m., police received a report of keys and garage door remote taken from a vehicle on Pierce.

Auto burglary? – At 3:05 p.m., police received a report of a blue vehicle with a broken window and backpack on the ground near the car in the parking lot of Ocean View Elementary School.

Arrest – A man was arrested on Solano after it was reported to police at 7:36 p.m. that he was trying to break into a vehicle.

Wallet left on library counter – A woman reported at 8:31 p.m. that a wallet, with ID inside, was left on the counter at the Albany Library at closing time and that she can see it through the window. She says the library is closed until Saturday. Disposition: Log note only.

Suspended license arrest – A female from Berkeley was arrested in the 1000 block of San Pablo on suspicion of driving on a license that has been suspended because of a DUI conviction.

Drunk or disorderly arrest – An Oakland male was arrested at 1151 Solano on suspicion of being under the influence to an unsafe degree or obstructing a public right of way.
