Police Calls: Robbery Reported Behind Albany High, iPhone Stolen at Target

The Albany police log for Nov. 8 includes a report of a strong-arm robbery of two juveniles by two other juveniles behind Albany High, an iPhone stolen from Target and juveniles pouring alcohol into a Mountain Dew bottle on the BART path.

he following information was obtained from the daily incident log and arrest log of the Albany Police Department.

Friday, Nov. 8

Outstanding warrant arrest– At 1:39 a.m., police arrested a 52-year-old San Pablo man at 505 San Pablo Ave. on an outstanding warrant. The arrest followed a 1:34 a.m. report of officer-initiated contact of a person in a U-Haul truck at Goodwill.

Non-injury accident – At 10:56 a.m., police received a report of a non-injury accident involving a black pickup on Buchanan at the Buchanan Interchange near the Golden Gate Fields entrance. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Outstanding warrant arrest– At 12:40 p.m., police arrested a 47-year-old Oakland man at 990 San Pablo Ave. on an outstanding warrant.

Man yelling, cussing, punching air – At 2:27 p.m., police received a report of a man in a black hoodie yelling, cussing and punching at the air at Kains and Brighton. Disposition: Request for police canceled.

iPhone stolen at Target – At 3:50 p.m., police received a report of an iPhone 5 in a pink case stolen from Target earlier today. "Ping" shows the phone in Oakland. Disposition: Case report taken.

Attempted strong-arm robbery behind Albany High – At 6:24 p.m., police received a report of two juveniles trying to rob two other juveniles near the pool behind Albany High. The reporting party said one of the suspects was crouching over one of the victims and the other was going through the pockets of the second victim whose hands were being held up. One suspect was described as Hispanic with short black hair, wearing a gray t-shirt and jeans and carrying a black backpack, and the second suspect was described as black, about 16-17 years old, with a dark complexion and wearing a black beanie and red flannel shirt. Disposition: Matter or reported situation checks out O.K.

Several juveniles with alcohol on BART path – At 6:57 p.m., police received a report of approximately four male juveniles and four female juveniles on the BART path near Albany Middle School pouring a large bottle of alcohol into a Mountain Dew bottle. Disposition: Unable to locate source of complaint.

Threat from 5th grader – At 8:45 p.m., police logged a report of a 5th grade student at Cornell Elementary School on Oct. 25 telling the reporting party's daughter that he was going to "blow up her face boom you died" and making a gesture of a gun with his hand. Disposition: Log note only.

Dogs barking all the time – At 11:32 p.m., police received a complaint of small dogs in a backyard on Curtis barking all the time. The reporting party, who prefers to remain anonymous, thinks the female resident is home now. The dogs could be heard in the background. Disposition: Log note only.
